This book can give you a really good idea of what gymnastics is. It lets the story of each gymnast's potential and how they built up to be a champion flow through. We ordered this book for a research project on one athlete, and my daughter became interested enough to continue reading the other chapters. The book introduces the 2012 gymnasts as small children, and follows their journeys to the Olympic tryouts. This is worthwhile reading for a middle school student as it focused not only on each girl's individual strengths but also how supportive the gymnasts were of each other.
Who didn't enjoy watching USA compete in the Olympics? My grand daughter is as well a gymnast and loves to read about other gymnasts. This book was read cover to cover in no time flat. While reading she couldn't stop talking a about this book! What a great find!
My daughter needed to read a book for a school assignment and wanted to find a biography on Jordyn Wieber. This book fit the bill and had biographies on the other gymnasts from the Fab Five as well. Very educational and she got an A on her book report!
The price was right on this, so I'm okay . . . but consider your purpose when making this purchase. It's really basic info, not enough for anything more than playground knowledge. I can see it being good additional information or motivation for a YOUNG gymnast (and by that I mean about 10 and under). It's not enough to do a school assignment and isn't much more than your basic google search, so unless you are (1) collecting random information on gymnasts; (2) needing a source for a school paper; or (3) gift purchasing for a young aspiring gymnast, I'd save the cash.
I love this book so much. If you are a gymnast like I am it helps you build confidince in yourself and achive your dreams! This book is a MUST read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book has a lot of useful information and is just a great book to readI remember watching them on TV in 2012 and reading this information makes me even more interested in "The Fab 5"
