I love this set of books. Each book the is a Rookie Read About always have clear pictures, great sentence structure for the primary reader and is always informative. This book is just like the others. It handles the topic of Veterans and who they are with dignity and respect.
This book is small, alittle hard to actually hold. Not many words, yet still teaches children about Veterans day. The pictures inside are real people and events. No illustrations. Good for children in kindergarten or prek. Too small to read to a class and show the pictures, odd size book. I was slightly disappointed, but I quess it does explain Veterans Day so its good.
I read this book every Veterans Day to help explain to my second graders what Veterans Day is and how it is celebrated. I have several of this series in my classroom. I highly recommend them for their simple text and pictures.
As are other Rookie Readers, this book is an excellent resource on the topic, appropriate for elementary-age students. Pictures and type-size make it easy to use this book in the classroom.
A great book for kindergartners to teach the basics of Vererans Day. It is short and to the point. It also gives the history of why Veterans Day started.
The students in my class truly enjoyed the book. We used it as a kick off to their presentation at a local Veterans Home. Perfect intro to the brave men and women who are fighting for our freedom.
Bought this book for each of my grandsons and for my daughter who teaches kindergarten. It is important for young people to learn who veterans are and what they have done for this country.
I liked the simplicity of the book, while still being informative. Books make a great vehicle for teaching children about traditions and why they have developed.
