Rules and Laws from First Step, Nonfiction:Government, is very useful when teaching and learning about government in communities. So often, as a 1st grade teacher I felt I had very good lessons for teaching this part in our first days of school, especially when we were working on trying to "live" together while in the classroom. It was natural to "need" rules/laws. This text provides the real life examples to assist students in developing more appropriate rules for the classroom. It can also be revisited during the unit on government. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who works with children ages 5 to 8, it could be used with a 4-year old, if you found the necessity for the topic (many preschools). I was very satisfied in how my students responded to this book and how well it met my expectations.
Great for teaching Pre K-1 about the differences of rules and laws and why we need them. Format could have been larger, but altogether a good book.
