This was more of a Cliff's Notes version of a story rather than an entire story. But you will get a good lesson in Amish words.This book glosses over many important plot points that I wish would have been fleshed out a lot more, but, hey, 42 pages. When we start, the protagonist's husband is still alive, but then we get to the next chapter, we find out that he's been dead for three weeks (the death is in the book description). Then we get more abrupt shifts to where a lot of things happened of which we're getting a summary. Also some decisions and actions are made by the protagonist that have little to do with her son's life being at stake, but rather the non-medical characteristics of the particular doctor. And if you're looking for a lot of conventional romance, there's not much even if you restrict yourself to a PG rating.I feel that if the author would have fleshed out a lot more of what, to me, seemed like a great premise, we would have had a really great story, especially explanations for actions. Again, it was only 42 pages.This was my first Amish romance novel, so I don't know if sprinkling the text with Germanic words in italics, even in non-dialog, is how it's done, but it got to be distracting. But if that's how it's done, then this is for you.Would I buy it again (even though it was on sale for free)? No. Would I buy a fleshed out book of at least 240 pages about which the story hinted? Probably.
This was a story of rejoicing. Rebecca has a very ill child and loses her husband. She has to deal with a lot in such a short period of time. Her daughter is a big help. The doctor is amazing. Great story.
Hey, it was free. Hard to beat the price! And the book was well-put together and easy to read. Obviously, it`s a teaser into the next book, but I don`t mind that at all. I`m definitely considering picking up the next one. Good work.
This book kept you interested from the beginning with sadness deep family ties ending with happiness.I would highly recommend reading this book.
I enjoyed this book a lot. Just wished the author would have gone a little farther with the story line. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars.
