THIS WAS A GREAT STORY AND FILLED WITH MANY INSPIRATIONAL AND UPLIFTING MESSAGES ABOUT FORGIVENESS AND STRENGTH. I WOULD SUGGEST TO READ LET THE CHURCH SAY AMEN FIRST BECAUSE IT WILL INTRODUCE READERS TO THE CHARACTERS. THE END LEFT ME HANGING SO I HOPE RACHEL AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY WILL BE BACK FOR THE SEQUEL.
Everybody Say Amen is a fast-paced, inspirational, drama filled of a church family. Rachel Jackson-Adams, a preacher’s daughter is now the first lady of Zion Hill, the church she grew up in. She is trying very hard to play her position. Unfortunately Rachel still has a lot of growing to do. With so much stress from the church, her kids ,her brothers and their kids, and her father's romance, Rachel finds herself praying more and more. This was a excellent book.I loved the characters and the story lineThe story will capture your interest until the end. I recommend you add this book to your list of books to read
Everybody Say Amen by Reshonda Tate Billingsley is an inspirational drama filled with humor. Rachel Jackson Adams is now married to Lester Adams. He was not her first choice, in fact her heart still belongs to Bobby, her child's father. But the former wild-child has gotten married and settled down, almost. When Rachel discovers Lester is going to become a preacher she is not pleased. She does not feel she can be a preacher's wife the way her late mother was. She is too interested in being herself and getting dressed in her Baby Phat outfits. She rebels every step of the way, initially. The book is filled with humorous, though poignant moments as Rachel struggles to accept her new role. She starts bringing innovative programs to the church, much to the chagrin of the elders. There are many confrontations and upheavals within her marriage during the first months of Lester's ministering. Everybody Say Amen is filled with a backdrop of family drama stories that will have the readers gasping and laughing out loud. There is infidelity, homosexual married folks, drug abuse and almost any situation that can come up in family drama.Everybody Say Amen is a wonderful read for those interested in a fast-paced, inspirational, yet funny look at what goes on behind the scenes in a church family. There is never a dull moment, just when the reader feels they know the direction of the story, something else will come up. This book is recommended for anyone interested in a well-paced, inspirational, fun read.Angelia MenchanAPOOO BookClub
Fantastic..storyline is compelling..author weaves story in a way that draws you in deeper as it progresses..she unfolds a little about each character then ties it into story that moves it forward. Irresistible..hard to stop reading nonstop...good thing my kindle battery runs down because i would read from cover to cover. Thanks reshonda t. Billingsley for restarting my reading adventure.
Rachel grew up a preacher's daughter and she rebelled in every way. Her husband Lester, have advised her that God has called him to preach. Rachel is not happy about becoming the first lady of a church. Rachel has two children, her son Jordan have started to behave badly. Jordan spends time with his dad Bobby and his wife. Rachel is still in love with Bobby, but married Lester. This book is packed with drama and scandal. A must read.........Waiting for the sequel
This is great book. In the process of buying the 2 other books that go along with this one. Ms Billinsley is an excellent author!!Books keeps you wanting to read until you have completed it! The books deals with real life issues that families go through and have to deal with sooner or later. Recommend to buy especially of you are a reader of Christian books.
The sequel did not disappoint. I love the maturity of each character and faith that God can do the impossible. As I turned each page there was a new delicious "nugget" that was revealed. The lives of the Jackson clan was a realistic portrayal of the church culture but fictitious enough to be entertaining. Thank you very much Reshonda Tate-Billingsley
When I seen this book along with "Everybody Say Amen" and "Say Amen Again" were part of a trilogy I went ahead and downloaded all 3 to my kindle to read in order, so that I could have something to read while on a plane ride and vacation. I read both "Let the Church Say Amen" and "Everybody Say Amen" in a week. The story lines are excellent and they build on top of the other. They kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next so I stayed up late and woke up early trying to see what was going to happening in each of the characters story lines. The Jackson Family is a wonderful example that there is no perfect family and that we should not put humans (regardless of their status) on a pedistool. Each member of the family had their own issues that they had to deal with. I laughed, cried, and shook my head all through out both books. I finished "Say Amen Again" at 11pm last night and was so into the ending that I immediatly dove right in to "Say Amen Again" and stayed up until 1am trying to see what on earth is going to happen with Rachel's situation. I highly recommend purchasing all 3 books and reading them in order back-to-back. They would all make excellent movies. Wonderful writing job Roshanda Tate Billingsley!
