Before purchasing "Where Was God," I had the pleasure of meeting the author, Sheila L. Jackson. Moments after saying our goodbyes, I purchased one of her books. The next day I began to read and became very agitated whenever life interrupted my reading. One day later, even with all the interruptions, I finished the book. I have read books from some amazing authors, like Vanessa Williams and Brenda Barrett, two of my favorite fiction Christian writers, and I rank Sheila L. Jackson right at the top with the best. The storyline was so captivating. I despised Gladys and Nicole, felt pity for Fayth and her sister, and cheered for Jaison. I understood the walls that Angelica built to protect herself from the hurts that the world can deal you and I rejoiced when all records had been set straight and God's faithfulness to his children' obedience brought victory to a strong Jaison (J.C.)Thank you Sheila for such an enjoyable writing. I look forward to reading all of your books that are printed and are future works. God definitely has a plan for your gift.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in a day. I will happily read more of Ms. Jackson's work, but I have to admit I was a little distracted by grammatical errors and typos. Ms. Jackson has wonderful talent, but I for one would appreciate it if there was better editing. With that said, I am still a fan. God Bless!

3.5 StarsMeet twelve year old Fayth Hope. She's burying her father in our first scene. Immediately, you feel her pain, but you also see that you're not going to like her mother. She is a bit...umm....ratchet..(that's all I could use to describe it!). Fayth was taught by her father how to love God and how to serve him. She trusts God, but when God doesn't deliver her from her abusive mother's clutches, she loses her faith and vows to never trust Him again. As a grown up, Fayth has stayed true to her word. God is not a part of her life and she has no desire to know him. I think that's something we can all relate to. At some point on our journey, we've had to wonder why God didn't respond a certain way to a situation. He is the Creator and it just seems like He wouldn't let anything bad happen. Right? That's where Fayth...I mean...Angelica was stuck. She couldn't let go and really understand that everything that happened to her (yeah...you find out..and you will NOT like it) was something to build her and perhaps help someone else. Often, we are so bogged down in how our circumstances bother us but we don't take a moment to see how it may help someone else...Now...right off there were some things that you know will happen. This is a romance and suspense novel. What you don't see even when you think you do, is a twist the author throws in. I didn't see that coming and for a minute I was confused! Anyhoo, this story is a good quick read.Now...I've already spoken to the author about this, but I do have to mention it here. There were quite a few proofing mishaps that had me screaming. It's all very minor but it's A LOT of minor. It's nothing that takes away from the story necessarily, but when you're the kind of reader that I am, it can dampen your mood toward the book. Don't let that discourage you. The story has a great flow...and every time you think..."is this when?"...nope...you're pushed on toward the end.

Twenty-seven year old Fayth Angelica Hope-now goes by Angelica has a tortured tormented soul. From the age of twelve after her daddy’s death she was beaten and abused at the hands of her mother till she was sixteen and rescued by her aunt. She dreams of the boy JC she met at her daddy’s funeral that seemed to take the pain away if only briefly. Now as an investigative reporter she pours her torment and pain into her work to be the best at CBN news. Instead of a much needed vacation her boss tells her she has to take the case of Spitzer Financial Firm and Jasion McCoy.Twenty-eight year old Jasion McCoy stepped into his daddy’s shoes to become a financial adviser. A God-fearing man he can’t understand the nightmare before him as he uncovered the embezzlement and yet he is being investigated. Still searching for his lost love Fayth he met at the age of twelve at her daddy’s funeral and now this he really is needing God’s help.I found this book just searching and what a book! So powerful and moving the pain and tormented characters lives that are so different and yet deep down both are really looking for the same. I love the well developed chemistry between the two and the sense of déjà-vu that both feel. Add two great characters to a remarkable storyline of intrigue and you have an outstanding story that is full of God’s love and grace.

Where was God, God is always there he never leaves us. When the Heroine's father died everything changed for her. Her mother became very abusive. At her father's funeral she met the Hero, they were both children at the time, he was the only one that made the Heroine feel special. They only saw each other that one time but they never forgot one another. And God did not forget them either.

I am not much of a Christian fiction lover and definitely not a romance kind of person, but this book's title drew me in. Especially since like the main character I've asked the same question. Fayth/Angelica has spent so many years living a life that wasn't hers. What was meant for her, she couldn't see or appreciate because she was programmed to believe differently. This character was very relatable and also very annoying. She endured and worked through her conflict through out the entire book. The story didn't drag but had some repetitive content in parts. I found the book easy to read because the chapters were short, the font size large and the centering of text on the page was different than usual. More like vertically justified on most pages. For me, these details stood out. I would have liked to have had more background on Jasion but the story wasn't about him. The story was about forgiveness. Moving forward. Accepting God's plan and trusting and believing in yourself. Good read, I give it 4 stars.
