Book 1 is an easy, enjoyable read. Kinney takes the reader into the home of a young woman who is learning how to be a wife and a mother while facing changes in family dynamics. Anyone who has been in a relationship with someone who suddenly decides to change his/her life knows that it's not always an easy transition. Kinney explores how the dynamics change in a household when one spouse, in this case the husband, decides to "give his life to God" and become a Christian.If book one is any indication, this series should be interesting, entertaining and most importantly, it will provide insight into the way one person's change influences the dynamics of a family unit.Stylistically, this book reads similar to most African American Christian fiction. The scriptural references do not take away from the flow of the story so even if you're not into Christian fiction the story can be relevant to your life. There's only a small number of grammatical and spelling errors, but nothing that takes away from the story.I recommend this series to anyone who likes to read African American Christian fiction. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Families can be tricky to handle especially when matters of faith come into play. This fiction book takes you on that journey of family challenges. A young woman is learning to be a wife, and a mother is faced with one great challenge of learning how to deal with her husband who has decided to take his relationship with God to the next level. I don’t wish to spoil the plot, but the book explores a life of two with a different perspective on life and faith. The book has a great story, live characters that drive the story in a fun and exciting way. An African American Christian fiction story that will leave you thinking about how good you want to drive you family is what defines this story. I highly recommend this book to anyone in a young relationship or thinking to get into one
I believe God speaks to me through my reading. I believe this message was meant for me. I am a believer and my husband and most of my children are not. Recently I was asked what I needed to work on in my walk and judgement flew out of my mouth. I am praying to our Father to help me.
Quick read. I enjoyed this book. Monica was going through some issues and needed to take time to see for herself what did she do to cause some of the issues. But she didn't. She just blamed others and stayed in selfish mode. She then decided to branch out on her own doing things she knew were not right but felt good to her. It destroyed her marriage and family. This book made me think about my own relationship. Do I judge when I look at my husband? Do I give him or anyone else the benefit of the doubt? I really took to heart the lessons I read in this story.
This story has great potential, however, the author needs an editor. The book isn't put together well and some parts are out of sequential order. At times, I was thoroughly confused. Six years pasted, but the daughter was still taking a bottle and needed a diaper bag. Then she was a seven year old girl, to next be described as a feisty six year old. Lastly, there's no real ending. Please take the time to re-read the book and make some changes.
Although I understood where the author was "going" with the message she was trying to convey-there were parts in the story that was amateurish & the writing somewhat juvenile. However, that was overlooked because the message was more important-we Need more Faith based books, telling it like 'It Is'. Therefore, the More writing the Better the Storytelling & Storyline..........
