Review for The Ultimate Betrayal by Kimberla Lawson Roby Well, well, well. In this fascinating installment of The Reverend Curtis Black Series, we journey into the lives of Pastor Black's eldest daughter, Alicia. She's spent the last few years redeeming herself and trying to earn her rightful place in Phillip's heart. Just when it seems that all is lining up and she'll have her happily ever after, an irresistible blast from the past resurfaces and shakes things up in Alicia's present world. Levi is determined. He's intoxicating. His words are poetic and the chemistry between them is alluring to say the least. Phillip loves Alicia with every fiber of his being. Having experienced the worse kind of pain at her hands years prior, he's pushed past that in hopes of a brighter future. This is the installment to rival many as Kimberla Lawson Roby has pulled out all the stops in this one. What would you do if the love you had was strong but not as strong as the love that you were drawn to? Perfectly penned was the web that was drenched in what's right and what's wrong, what feels good and what actually is good for you. She deals with matters of the heart but also addresses very important social issues in the lives of Alicia's best friend, Melanie. This book draws you in and you become attached to the characters. You want to pick sides. There's a battle between the heart and mind but in classic Kimberla fashion, the love of God shows up when He's needed. Not to mention the fact that we have the good Reverend Curtis Black on the right track and delivering great advice in a real talk manner. Hallelujah! He was not playing with Alicia! I loved this book! I read the second half twice! I became submerged in the drama. I took a plunge into the suspense that had me yelling "Ooh, No, Wait, OMG!" It was phenomenal! It truly was worth the wait! Five stars!
Alicia is the oldest daughter of Reverend Curtis Black. In the past, Alicia had some issues with deception, lying, and cheating on her husband Philip. After some time apart, Alicia gets a second chance with Philip and she is getting her " happily ever after”. That's until Levi pops back into the picture. As much as Alicia tries to deny it, she and Levi had a connection that is undeniable. Will Levi throw a monkey wrench in Alicia's chance at happiness with Philip or will she be able to resist him?The Ultimate Betrayal is one of the best books I've read so far. I have read every single book in the Reverend Curtis Black series and this is a great one. I loved how no matter how much drama, lying, and cheating there is, Kimberla Lawson Roby always ties in God. There is a lot of detail included for each character in this story, but it's not overdone. It's a book that'll be hard to put down. It's one of those books that will have you gasping, screaming at the characters like they're in front of you. So far, The Ultimate Betrayal one is my favorite books in this series. Highly recommended!JackieUrban Reviews
Yes, I was one of those people who said "NOT ANOTHER ONE". But then again, I said that after the 2nd book of the Curtis Black series. Authoress Roby always keeps me coming back. I'm hooked! I think this is how an addict feels when they're coming down from a binge.I read this book in less than two days and already looking for the next (please let there be another).I really understand Alicia in this book. You can't help who you love. Alicia tried to fight it - but that darn Levi was like a bad penny, he just kept turning up. When the chemistry is as good as it is between these two - it was bound to happen.Oh, and let's not forget the drama unfolding between Brad & Melonie. I don't have an eating disorder, but I can understand how it could get out of hand. She's starving herself, yet that self righteous husband has an outside family he's been taking care of. (you can never keep a baby secret)...I hope I didn't give too much away.Authoress Roby - keep doing what you do. But, at this rate - your next book will need to come with a six week stay in rehab.**It takes one to know one: This is how The Right Reverend Black knew when his sweet baby Alicia was messing up**
It was good and even if Alicia was wrong on how she treated Phillip you can not go around treating people like that. I sad he shot his self. I glad Melanie is doing okay. And I know there is going to be another part with Alicia and Levi getting married
I am a very disappointed in the Curtis Black series. I was a big fan. This is Alicia's third book. How could Alicia's character not mature at all,?! As terrible, selfish, thoughtless, and a liar among other words be allowed to live and Phillip dies? Please explain how anyone could consider this a good book?Phillip's character was a good man who loved Alicia. Not once but twice they marry for her to treat him like nothing with the same man! He dies and she ends up happy and with Levi in the next book. Seriously! This sequel writing is getting old.Personally, I hope that Kimberla Lawson Roby closes out the Black Series. Terrible!
First of all let me say Kimberla Lawson Roby has done it again!!!!!!!! This book was everything and then some!!!!! You really need to read the Reverend Curtis Black Series! When it comes to love it's truly something. Many lessons to learn in this book! The heart want what the heart wants! In the dangerous game of love someone always gets hurt. The lies, betrayal, deceit, and drama was allllllllll in this book! Once aging I truly loved this book!!!!!! I can't wait for your next book!
