This book contains some useful introductory information, but as far as the math is concerned, it really makes simple concepts more difficult. I know the math-it's extremely simple, but didn't understand what they were trying to say. On many occassion, I simply skipped their explanations, and did the math. I mean, come on, does it really take a half a page to teach someone how to multiply mixed fractions? Things of that nature are simple and really straightforward. The mathematics is extremely easy. I was expecting to be challenged, and having to learn equations that involve calculus, instead, I'm simply going over crap that is easier than what is required on the GED test. So to anyone who uses this book and gets discouraged, know that's it's not you if you are struggling, it's the teaching method. The part that I appreciated was being introduced to different components, such as the function that banking plays in the business world. Great book if you like easy material, but not anything special if you actually want a challenge. If the book was more thorough and challenging, then I would have gave it 4 stars.
An excellent accompaniment to the Math Lab software. Processes are broken down and explained well. Good step by step instructions.
Finally, a math textbook that does a decent job at communicating math. I liked the examples and "how to" sections which were able to explain concepts in ways much clearer than other texbooks/website that I've used. My understanding of fractions and percentages have never been better, and I owe it to this textbook. This for people who aren't trying to become mathematicians. Rather, it's for the average person who needs and wants to fully comprehend business math.If you're willing to put in the effort then this textbook will help tremendously.
If you want to learn about reviewing business math concepts then this book is for you. This book illustrates math sample problems, and reviews those math formulas step by step.
