This is a wonderful collection of books by nine different authors with the theme of mail-order brides. Since this is one of my favorite themes in historical fiction, I was excited for the chance to read & review this collection, and I was not disappointed! I especially loved the faith-thread each author portrayed throughout their stories, and how each character grew in their relationship with Him. I enjoyed each story equally but I will highlight three of them in my review.Mismatched in Texas by Janice ThompsonBelinda fancies herself a matchmaker and in a town full of men, she only wants to bring happiness to each one. She takes it upon herself to open her own marriage brokerage and send off for potential brides. As she scours newspapers from all over Kentucky, New York and the like, she thinks she has a good idea of what bride would go with what groom. It might look good on paper, but will the couples agree or is she getting ahead of God’s plans? And what about George, her first “customer” who insists he’s content being a bachelor? Can she find the perfect match, or does the right one already exist?I found myself laughing a lot throughout this story in many places! While Belinda has a good heart, she tends to take things in her own hands without first asking for God’s direction. And that leads to many mishaps & much hilarity! I fell in love with each character. We also get to know her cousin Greta, who runs the mercantile with her. She’s the more grounded of the two and it does cause a few head butts! I saw a strong Christian faith-thread throughout this story, especially as Belinda begins to realize she needs to go to the Lord first & relying on Him to work things out for the best! This was a longer novel and I enjoyed it so much.
