I am majoring in the german language and so far I have taken a 3 semesters of german in college. I know the struggle and grammar could be a royal pain in the arse. I did not understand how to tell time, how to use the week endings/strong endings, using the imperative, and etc. Now trying to pronounce a word top the cake. In short, learning German is a very difficult language if you do not understand the concept of how to construct a sentence, when to use the right gender (der, die, das), and if you do not follow the rules of grammar.Living Language German Essential is like a godsend. They break down the rules in a very simple matter, has a bit of humor in Grammar Builder and slowly it builds up your vocubulary. The quizzes are very simple to complete that it is not necessary to look at the answers. The Dialogue are very simple, but pay attention in how the write the sentence. See where they play the verb and how they use the dativ, accussative, nominative and genitive. Those are very important thing to learn when constructing a sentence, especially in what you are going to say. You will also learn how to write past tense sentence and it's rule (haben and sein are your new best friend so do yourself a favor. Learn how to conjugate these two verbs).Now since I have the Living Language German Box set the CDs are wonderful. They go over the vocabularies, as well quiz you with your vocabs. It also basically read over the book, so you can use it in the car or if you are like me you can download it to your iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc. It really does help you in your pronounciation, especially if you want be fluent in german.This book is wonderful, but it does contain some flaws.
