The review for this book is for the Grant and Proposal Writing course as a part of the Masters in Technology and Ministry program in City Vision University. If you are new to writing grant proposals or a seasoned veteran, this book is a vital resource to have at-hand. The authors have very successfully created an extremely useful ‘step-by-step’ approach to the grant-writing process The book features information on the techniques for writing and submitting grant proposals to foundations.By following each of the three or four page chapters, you will be able take a concept in your head and develop a persuasive and successful grant proposal. The introduction to Winning Grants Step by Step includes a very useful eight-point section of “principles to follow when preparing the proposal”.1 Throughout the book there are practical exercises in the form of worksheets. These worksheets are available for downloading on the companion website. On a personal note, I would change the layout of the worksheets.Winning Grants Step by Step gives solid advice, clear examples, helpful hints, reality checks, and definitions. The power of this book is its ability to keep you focused on your task-at-hand every step of the way. The arena of grant funding is increasingly becoming more competitive. It is wonderful to have a resource that offers valuable insights to make any proposal more competitive, increasing the likelihood of securing funding.Since a bad proposal can sour your future relationship with a grant maker, Winning Grants Step by Step is an indispensable guide to transform your proposal that demands funding. Winning Grants Step by Step is a valuable resource to use with The Only Grant-Writing Book You’ll Ever Need written by Ellen Karsh and Arlen Sue Fox.
Borrowed one from library and liked it so much that I had to buy one. A great help for anyone who wants to learn how to write grants to help their non profit organization. Filled with good tips, examples and worksheets for more information. After taking some grant writing classes and seeing this book used, it is definitely one to add to your own library.
The book its self is ok but did not come with the CD that is needed for my class. I assumed since it was new it could have been included and it was not.
This is a great resource for anyone that works in nonprofit development. Although the grant process is becoming more and more streamlined via the internet, it is still a good idea to know how to put together effective proposals so that you can translate that knowledge into a foundation's specific format.
I'm new to grant writing and this will be my go-to resource for sure. I can see how experienced grant writers could also benefit from it. It's chock full of examples, tips, and tricks for writing all types of grants.
This book is simultaneously informative, engaging, easy to read, and practical. The forms help outline each step. I did have a little trouble with the website. Please improve accessibility of forms online.
Outstanding. It is what I needed. It is clear and concise. I recommend it to others in grant writing.Thank you.Marilyn
I'm just finding it layed out in a difficult way. Searching for specific piece of information in the book is difficult. I am not a fan of the kindle cloud format.
