"Brave New Town" is the first one of the Big Finish Productions that I listened to, and it seemed enjoyable; in fact, I prefer the audio dramas better than somebody reading a book to me! And it also features Paul McGann as Doctor #8 and he is one actor that was hardly on the television screen, outside of the others, so the dramas are a treat for me. I have collected quite a few others since this one and despite what others might rate some of them, I rate all of them GREAT!!!
The Doctor takes Lucy back to 2008 but they quickly discover something's not right as the town appears to be stuck in September 1991. And something is odd about the villagers and it's not just that Bryan Adams has the most popular song around.This is a very innovative tale both in the way it builds up the mystery and also portrays one of Doctor Who's most memorable lesser villains. With all the innovation and enjoyment in this episode, the end was a bit routine, but still this has some great performances and has some original and intelligent twists.
