I bought for myself to practice reading some Japanese. There is no kanji in the book, making it easy for beginners (with some idea of sentence structure and some limited vocabulary). I got to the end of the "Shiro Kuma" part I was pleasantly surprised and amused.
While the book itself is good for Japanese practice the translations and text in the back don't match up with the text in the main part of the book. For instance one part of the text in the main part of the book is, さあ、おうちにかえろうか while the translation in the back lists the text as さ、おうちにかえろう。For that matter the phrase あゆきがふってきた is translated as Oh! Its snowed, when it actually means Oh! Its snowing. Also, grammatically, speaking the user also has to know the volitional form of the verb, how to use かどか, and how to use the お as an honorific.
I liked the storylines, there are two separate short stories included. One negative, the translation in the back for the second story leaves out a part of a sentence...not a big deal unless you're working on translating every word like I was. Otherwise, a great book.
This picture book is both really funny and is a really great comprehension practice. It is all in hiragana. Have fun
Very cute story! Read it to my daughter.I would recommend to read it to small children mostly. Might be boring for older kids.
I wish it had the translations (at the end) for more definite practice. Super cute book though. One page has a messed illustration. That should be fixed.It is very short but I guess short is good for beginning students.
This book is really good for practicing your hiragana reading it. Really good book to practice especially with the glossary explaining everything at the end
im learning hiragana and this is the only thing i can read by now! is simple, with basic vocabulary. Great for begginers!
