Argh!! Things are looking--and smelling!!--a little fishy at Seabreezy Library. When the big X on Pirate Pete's treasure map leads him and his parrot-sidekick Igor to believe buried treasure is hidden at the library, the patrons are quaking in their shoes. But never fear! Library Lou, Seabreezy's librarian-extraordinaire, is as cool as a cucumber and knows how to handle an irate pirate or two. She knows exactly where the treasure is buried. SUMMARY: Pirate Pete shows up in the Seabreezy Library looking for treasure. He stomps in making noise and smelling up the place. But Library Lou stares him down, tells him to be quiet, go home and take a bath and then she will help him find the treasure. When he returns(squeaky clean), Library Lou teaches Pete his alphabet. Pete practices until he able to read words and then books. He realizes that the treasure to be found in the library is the books.ILLUSTRATIONS: The illustrations are absolutely extraordinary! Amazing facial expressions that draw you in, incredible lines and details, gorgeous use of color that makes the book feel modern, yet old timey. I loved every picture on every page!THE GOOD: I admit I am a sucker for a good pirate picture book. But this book has so much to offer. The rhyming is fun and works well, there is humor throughout the book--so much so I laughed out loud in several spots--and the illustrations are fantastic. The book gets a bit slow in the last few pages, but the rest of the book makes up for it. This book would be great for introducing students to libraries and the concept of reading on one's own. I think every librarian should own a copy. And what a great gift it would be for your favorite librarian!AGE RECOMMENDATION: Grades 1-3

My five year old sons favorite book! The author came and read this book to his preschool and my son asks me to read it every single day since. It's got a catchy tune and has things that are funny to kids.

This book has everything I would recommend to little ones. The story has the children wanting more and their eyes stay fixed on the amazing illustration! A definite thumbs up and 5 stars!!!

What a fun book! Rhonda Gowler Greene visited our library and read it to the audience. Children and adults loved it. We wish Rhonda LOTS of luck in winning the Golden Sower Award in 2017

This is a great book for the beginning of the school year basic library rules and how reading can open a whole new world. The illustrations are clever and will surely draw children in!

It is a great book about the value of knowing how to read and especially with grandsons. The author does a good job of creating a tale about the value of reading.

Nicely illustrated and a cute story. Although I prefer paper for picture books, this Kindle version was easy to read, especially with the text zoom.

It was a very cute story. Both of myGrandsons liked it. They are 7 & 8.The subject, about a pirate in a librarywas interesting.
