It wasn't quite what I expected although it was very thorough. It's very weighty and academic. I thought I would learn something about my roots, but for me, it reads like a dissertation and I couldn't get much out of it. I guess it had to be that way. Not wanting to waste a book, I will probably resell it.
For those interested in the history of Caribbean people, particularly from a linguistic perspective, this book is excellent! Dr Roberts is very knowledgeable on this topic and this certainly comes across in his writing. This book is well worth the cost!
