We all know how much Lola loves books. In this third book in the Lola series (LOLA AT THE LIBRARY and LOLA LOVES STORIES), Lola has a new baby brother and she can’t wait to share her love of reading with him. Lola gets ready for little Leo’s arrival by reading books about brothers and sisters and picking out the perfect stories that she just knows her little brother will love. Even when her mom’s tummy gets "bigger and bigger," and even when she’s tired, Mom makes sure there is time for Lola and her stories. When the baby is finally here, Lola takes on the role of big sister—she helps her mommy and daddy around the house and tells Leo stories to cheer him up when he cries. LOLA READS TO LEO proves that it’s never too early to become a reader!

Lola was all nestled under the covers as she cuddled her elephant and waited for Mommy to read her a bedtime story. It was all about a little big girl like Lola who was going to have a "new baby brother." Mommy was going to have a baby and she sometimes try to make her tummy as big as Mommy's. She snuggled against that tummy as they read a story. Of course the story had to be one that the baby would enjoy. Lola was going to read a lot of stories to that new baby.Daddy was making "new shelves for the baby's things." A book for Lola, a book for baby, but he could keep the duck and the teddy bear. She was going to be a good big sister. When the baby arrived it was a brother named Leo. There was a "soft book" for baby Leo because it would be a "perfect present" for his crib. Baby Leo sure was a lot of work. Lola had to make him smile when he cried, she had to help Mommy when she read "her best bear story," and read to him when he was being changed. Being a big sister was lots of work, but also lots of fun! This is the charming story of Lola, a new big sister who loved to read storybooks to her baby brother. Lola, like many children, takes great delight when her new brother Leo arrives. Even before he was born she learned that reading him stories was a special thing and one that she could do for him, something Mommy did with Lola. One of the most adorable scenes is when Lola is seated on her potty reading "him her best potty book" to comfort him as he cries. The special place she has in the house and takes in his care made the transition from being an only child to being a big sister an easy one. If you have someone who is going to be a big sister, this would be a perfect book to introduce that new brother or sister before they arrive!

We read this to our 2 year old daughter daily as we prepared for the birth of her little brother.Lola and her parents are awaiting the new baby's arrival and preparing! Dad builds bookshelves and Lola sorts out her books, separating out a pile for her baby brother. Lola goes to the hospital to meet her baby brother, Leo, and takes him a gift. Once they are home, she tells how and why he cries often and does her best to tell him stories to make him feel better. Lola is a great role model for soon to be older siblings. Use this book to help prepare your child for his/her new family role and what to expect (first meeting, sharing, that crying is expected, that his/her help is appreciated around the house and he/she is so loved)My son is now 1 and we are still reading this about once a week. My daughter loves books as well so this book was perfect for us.

Very, very. very cute book. I wish that I had purchased this before we had our second baby. It fits so well with our lives. My daughter loves this book and says that she is just like Lola and she wants to read to her baby brother. It's the sweetest thing. This is a great gift to give to an big sister.

We love this book! It is one of our 3 year olds favorite books now that she is a big sister to a baby brother. The pictures are lovely and the story is perfect. I especially appreciate the distribution of baby-related tasks to both parents. This makes the story realistic to our family and reinforces what we are teaching our daughter. The story has also helped to encourage our daughter to read, sing, etc. for her brother like Lola does in the book.

My daughter and I love the Lola series! We own the first 3 in the series (this is book 3). We love reading how Lola has transitioned from being an only child to now being a big sister and sharing her love for books with her little brother, Leo. I work in a library as a profession, which makes it even more enjoyable, so this series is a must-have for our home library. Book 4 has recently been released..."Lola Plants a Garden," so we are looking forward to adding that one to our collection as well.

My granddaughters are about to get a little brother. This story was soooo perfect and my five year old granddaughter kept saying "Just like me!" all through the story! She cannot wait to read to her little brother that we are expecting! LOVED IT!!

Big sister Lola can think of a book to share with new baby Leo for nearly every situation, whether it's time for the potty, time for a bath, or time for a nap. This is a warm and loving look at a contemporary African-American family. A great choice for ANY toddler expecting a new brother or sister. Colorful acrylic illustrations depict adorable Lola and her comfortable middle-class surroundings.I loved that Lola was not too jealous of the baby - rather, proud of what she had to share. I'm a fan of the whole series. I highly, highly recommend Lola at the Library and Lola Loves Stories, and can't wait to see what Anna McQuinn and Rosalind Beardshaw have for us next!

My daughter and I used to rent this book from the library over and over again. She loves Lola. Then someone bought us a copy for a gift. She was so excited to have her own copy. This is perfect for us since we started reading Lola at the Library when we went to the library every week. Then when we had a baby brother added to our family, this book really came in handy. I think it's a great book to give to an older sibling when you visit the new addition. It shows them that some things will change but others will stay the same. I love the Lola books. They make a great addition to any child's library.
