The true value of story that may carry the badge of "timeless" or "classic" may not be really seen until you witness a group of high school age students stunned to silence as they are read a story they remember in a language they are learning.The bilingual nature of this series from the Keepsake Stories is perfect for either the classroom or at home if you are trying to teach a second language with real world application.
I bought this book for my three-year-old daughter who loves bedtime stories. I like to read to her Spanish books so she can learn a second language. She is able to understand the story and answer all my questions. The book has big colorful images and is very easy to read. I highly recommend this book.
The story is very similar to the movie, the only thing I don't like is the use of the word "Kill" and "Matar" (in Spanish) which is what the Wizard of Oz wants Dorothy to do to the evil witch. I end up changing the word to "getting rid of" and no one gets upset about it.
It's a pretty straight forward version of the classic story we all know. The only difference in this one though, is that Dorothy has silver slippers-not ruby ones.I did find it helpful having the story first in English, then in Spanish. Really helps with vocabulary building and verb conjugation practice.
Great gift for my bilingual niece who is almost 3. Her mom said that she was very excited to receive this in the mail!
