We are raising our childrne bilingual, I speak Spanish and my husband English, and we know it is important to have things in both languages. I like this book and other similar ones because they are fun and they are actually something they will like to use just for fun, without thinking of the language. I know it is important that it comes naturally to them to choose Spanish over English, because English is obviously much more present around us, so, I like that this book can be something appealing to them. It looks silly and makes you all use Spanish around it, which is all the purpose of using Spanish with them.
This is one of my daughter's favorite books. It's a silly book that will basically keep you barking like a crazy person, but my daughter loved it from day one. Don't buy it if you think you'll get annoyed fairly quickly from acting out the different dog barks, but if you love reading with your little one, this is one to get.
I got this book for one of my bilingual nephews and he loved this book! It's also always a good idea to buy a board book when there are pretty young kids (ages three and one) in the house. It came on time and it won't get destroyed for years to come I think!
I can't get over how well this line of books goes with the lessons laid out in Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 1. I used this book after the chapter on counting, and of course my kids already knew the word for Dog, so it was just a wonderful reinforcer. What a FUN way to review!I'm already be recommending it to all my students, and plan to use it in my Spanish class for 3 and 4 year olds this week!
My 10-month-old has a pretty short attention span these days, but she loves dogs and therefore loves this book and "asks" for it often. I like it too. I suppose it could get tiresome with all the barking, but I try to get into it, and Boynton gives parents a break here and there (skipping some dogs or, my personal favorite, the "6 perros callados" page where nobody barks!). My daughter's favorite parts are on "6 perros callados" when I make a loud "SHHHH" noise, and "9 perros en una noche de luna" when they (I) howl at the moon. She laughs every time.
I love this book. It is so fun. My baby is learning a lot and has already memorized some of the fun sounds. It is one of her favorites.Sandra Boynton rocks. I was so glad to find some of ther books in Spanish for my bilingual baby.
Highly recommend this book!! My son loves looking at the different shapes and sizes of the different dogs and its wonderful to be able to show him how many each number represents. This has been a great addition to our home library.
My son loves this book, its so much fun to read! He just laughs and laughs. We are a bilingual family so I feel its very important to expose him to books in both english and spanish! I am very satisfied with the size, quality and price!
