This is one the greatest stories I’ve read this year! I adore the bond and faith-driven support between this small group of friends. I fell in love with each character, as each battled internally and externally to make it through every trail and tribulation thrown their way. Unfortunately, not every battle within this story was conquered. Along the road to victory, elbows were thrown and lives were lost. Nonetheless, this group of friends were triumphant. However, being a hopeless romantic, it really was the romance captured in this story that I enjoyed the most. There are 3 main couples carrying 6 different types of baggage. So the drama is plentiful, but the LOVE, the LOVE is unyielding! Truly symbolic to God’s love. Full of hope and faith, after reading this book you to will find yourself saying I can do all things through him which strengthens me!
Great book! I love a faith based book that is both entertaining and delivers a well crafted message without being preachy! Benjamin, Camille, Kevin and Paige are at different stages of faith but it's so realistic to life in how they handle their situations. Sometimes, I laughed out loud, wanted smack somebody, and cry. This was a GREAT read.
I read this book as an ARC reader but will be buying it in print for my collection. It's a great Christian fiction that allows the reader to examine their own situations, be helped and hopefully intentional about making a change in spite of their past! All the characters are real. No super saints in this book which shows we are all a work in progress. In this sequel, Genevieve shows us how in spite of our pasts, faith in God, determination, and effort can make a difference in our situations. She shows us (African Americans), it's okay to seek counseling to work through your issues and the benefits of doing so.Camille & Benjamin have the God ordained love that every Christian woman desires but most are too impatient to wait on. Ms Carol shows us how not to act in grief; scripture says sorrow as not with those without hope. She was hopeless and was at church every Sunday. This shows how you can be in church but not in Christ. Frankie and Karen's relationship depicts a love that unfortunately is common - the baby, the love, the marriage, the struggle of not truly knowing each other and unlike many cases the fight to make their love a lasting one. Kevin and Paige's relationship shows how sometimes you have to separate yourselves from those closest to you to be with the one you love. Kevin's mom shows mean spirited individuals taking their grievances against one person and holding it against someone else who's oblivious to the situation.I could go on and on but it's a good read. Can't wait for the next book in the series!!! Job well done Genevieve!
Another great captivating book by Gene Woods! It's full of real life drama & hope, and hard to put down! Most of the characters are easy to fall in love with, and are well-developed. They learn to forgive & let go of their anger, pain, & resentment. I laughed over "a holiday of lamentations & regrets!" How often do we make it a holiday?! I could identify with having an "emotional breakthrough with the lyrics of the song", and especially loved the song in the book: "I am nothing, Lord. I'm nothing without You". This is a book that everyone can identify with some character or problem. It will make you anxious to get the next book in this series to find out what happens.
Forgiveness is the key to a happier life. We all fall short and have unfinished blemishes to try and erase before we decide that it is time to settle down and allow someone else to dwell in our personal space. Will we have enough time to indulge in a makeover before our better half decide we are not worth the wait? One thing for sure is that when you find your better half make sure you are prepared because the storm is ...... GOD has appointed each of us our soul mate and he or she will definitely stand the test of time. This book takes you on a journey that will allows you to see that what we call flaws are really specks of light that is shining like a star directing our mates.
Author Woods once again has tackled a serious topic in a way that we all can relate to. This is the second book I have read of hers and I love the way she brings the characters to life. Her characters remind us of ourselves or someone we know. In this second book of the Greatest Love Series she dove into the topic depression. Depression is real and a forbidden topic one that isn't always discussed openly. Her characters hide their depression in risky behaviors, substance abuse, anger towards others. Some seek counseling while for some the depression is too much to handle and it overtakes them. She takes us on a journey through their pain and sorrow while using scriptures and songs to help them find their way back to love and sanity. Camille is dealing with her daddy issues, Ms. Carol has showed us that losing a child sometimes can put us over the edge. Ben is feeling the guilt of is it okay to move on, Karen has to overcome the feelings of being hurt once again by a loved one. And will Shayla ever let it go, her behavior called for more than the lashing that Karen gave her. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
