I purchased this book for a special friend, who has a five-year-old daughter, who loves this inspiring children's series as much as my own daughter has for many years, and still does. This enjoyable installment to the popular classical series is easy-to-read for beginners. The sentences are short, and the colorful illustrations are inviting as they compliment the fun-filled story, bringing it to life. It's a hot day in Bear country, and the Berenstain Bears certainly know how to cool down the neighborhood. It begins with Mama bringing out lemonade to the cubs, who are grateful to quench their thirst with delicious lemonade. Brother, Sister, and Honey Bear decide to make a lemonade stand, after Mailbear offers them twenty-five cents for a cup of lemonade. Before they know it, Lawn Bears Buy it, then several neighbors, until almost all the lemonade is gone. However, The neighbors chip-in, and a block party begins. Delicious food is cooked, there is plenty of drinks, and Farmer Ben sells fruit, and goodies. Everyone has fun, and Grizzly Bear lights up the dark sky with fireworks, before the party ends. This wonderful children's book is fun, easy to read, will make young readers giggle, and is enjoyable. It teaches children about teamwork, and responsibility. In addition, they learn the value of money. Educational and highly recommended to teachers, parents, and child-care providers.
We have dozens of Berenstain Bear books and are rather discerning. My daughter, a struggling reader, prefers the older books written by Stan and Jan Berenstain. But this book was a pleasant surprise. It includes many residents of Bear Country that we haven't met before (lawn bears mowing lawns in the neighborhood; the letter carrier; someone throwing a party--all of whom are grateful for the lemonade). Farmer Ben comes up with his farm stand, selling vegetables alongside the three cubs' lemonade stand. And the book ends with fireworks. Very interesting on many levels, even if there's no problem per se (this is not part of "The Trouble With..." series.) it's nice to see one of the modern books (post Stan and Jan, who will live forever in the hearts of our children) captivate my daughter as much as, say, the books about the slumber party or the "in-crowd." There is no religious content.
What more can I really say about a Berenstain Bears' book that hasn't been said over all the years they have been around? This one is just as wonderful as the rest and was a great addition to our son's library.Thank you Stan, Jan & Mike
Simple sentences for eager readers is how the Level 1 of the I Can Read! books are rated and we are nearly there with our AppleBlossom! I think of all the characters that fill the shelves of the I Can Read! early readers our favorites include Fancy Nancy and of course The Berenstain Bears. Spring is here, but summer is soon to come. Not only is this a fun reader with a bit of a classic summer theme, but it’s also just the thing to grab for your youngest reader to put those new decoding phonics skills to the test as well as their sight word vocabularies. This story is a cute one with plenty of smiles and a near laugh out loud moment. All about family and community with a great theme. A good early reader as is expected from the Berenstain Bears in this family.I received this product free for the purpose of reviewing it. A great read, my daughter was surprise to see Baby Honey is a little older in this book. She enjoyed the way the cubs worked together and showed how the bear community came together on a hot day.
