Good writers grab their readers’ attention and draw them into their stories with great opening first lines like the one in which Patience Prence begins Trial by Fire: “’Behold, the head of a resister!’ The executioner holds his trophy high above for all to see.” Of course, during the tribulation period, the “resisters” will be followers of Jesus Christ. The story follows the struggles of its protagonist, Brock Summers, who is a resister. Premce tells her story in such a way that her readers can feel the angst that Brock experiences as a believer during a time when Christians will face beheading for simply declaring that Jesus is Lord. Beyond the storyline, Prence also interweaves a message of how important it is to know Jesus Christ as one’s Savior and to take a stand for Him regardless of the consequences. Good writers also have great endings, and Prence does not disappoint. I won’t spoil the ending for you. But I will say that it left this grown man in tears.
Trial by Fire is a book that will capture your attention from the first page.. Patience Prence shares Bible scripture to back up her take on the End Times. Her characters seem so real and I was rooting for them throughout the book. I enjoyed the interaction between Brock Summer and Copperhead. This young lady (Copperhead) had to deal with what she thought was real by listening to people instead of reading the scripture. Brock was so patient with her but firm when it was needed.Ms. Prence’s books are well written, exciting and kept me reading until the end. I always hate to come to the end of a great book and this one doesn’t disappoint.If you haven’t read SCARS I recommend you do so. As with SCARS, I do highly recommend Trail by Fire.
This is the second book of Ms Prence's that I have read. It tells of a time that is soon to come, but one which the world will not understand. I pray that many of you will come to know the Lord before that day.In His Service,Gordon T. Eldridge

Ended beautifully, only I wanted more. I know this is fiction but some actually think angels married women and produced giants, but of course that isn't scripture. That is man's interpretation. I enjoyed reading of the faithful, chosen and elect. I hope there is another book coming soon.
I am so excited to find a writer such as Patience. In following through after her scars book this one too kept me captivated and in able to put it down. Can't wait until she comes out with the third one in the series.
If you have questions about the end times, about the 7 years tribulation, pick up this book and Patience's first book Scars. Each book provides events that will take place during the tribulation and how different people handle the choice for Jesus or satan, as each of us will have to make if we are still here during this time. I found these books easy to read and understand without having to have extensive knowledge of biblical events. They are great books that address situations and how the average person will deal with the situation. I highly recommend them!!
