Snowmen At Work

If you were a snowman, what job would you choose? Ten years ago, on the publication of Snowmen at Night, we discovered the secret lives of snowmen. While we humans sleep, the snowmen go sledding, play baseball, and drink cocoa. But now it's revealed that snowmen don't just play all night--they have jobs to do, just like the parents of human kids. Dentists replace missing coal from snowman smiles while pet store owners help pair snowkids with their very own snowpuppy or snowfish to love. The pizza man delivers frozen pizza, and factory workers make the coolest toys in town. This fourth book in the New York Times bestselling Snowmen series is a gleeful, goofy delight. Kids will love spotting the silly details in each illustration, and the hidden pictures too. (They can look on the back side of the book jacket for a key to all that's concealed within.)

Once again the Buehners have created a magical fun Snowmen book. Illustrations are so inviting. They will keep you children entertained for a long time. The story is so fun and makes you want to go out and build a snowmen and have the story come alive. I highly recommend this book and the other three snowmen books the Buehners have created.

We love the whole Snowmen series. We first discovered the books at our local library. We love them so much that we have started buying them for our own collection. Otherwise, the library would never have them to loan to anyone else. My boys enjoy reading about the mysterious lives of the Snowmen. My oldest son (age: 4) likes trying to find the hidden objects on each page. The bakery and pet shop are our favorites. These stories are well illustrated and well written.

This book is delightful. The story line is fun and colorfully illustrated. I am very happy with the purchase and ordered several books in this series to give for Christmas gifts.

Several people wrote that this one is not as good as the other Snowmen books in the series, and all I can say is that I can't wait to read the others, because this one is great! I chose this one randomly for my grandkids, and I will definitely buy them more from this series. The story is very cute and the illustrations are adorable. My only very slight concern is with regard to the "hidden pictures on every page." I'll have to take their word for that, because there were a couple of pages where I simply couldn't tell what was supposed to be part of the actual picture and what qualified as "hidden." Other than that, I think this book is absolutely charming.

Where has this author been all my life? We have just discovered these Snowman books (all the ones we can find in this series!) and we absolutely adore them! The stories are so cute and fun, and the illustrations are REALLY good! They are paintings, and they are absolutely beautiful...truly spectacular...the books are worth owning just for the artwork! The way the painter uses colour is amazing, and the actual scenes painted are so picturesque...also, there is the fun element for my kids of finding the hidden pictures on each page. We love these books and will be recommending them to everyone we know for years to come. I'm planning to bring all of the ones we've purchased with us to my Mother's for Christmas, to read to my 11 nieces and nephews (all aged 9 and under), as I know they will be so popular!

We *loved* Snowmen at Night and read it all year long. I bought this for my son's 4th birthday and while the pictures are lovely, there really isn't a story line in this one, rather rhyming lines describing different jobs - baker snowman, grocer snowman, pet store owner snowman. Each page is a different character with no interwoven story. I'm disappointed. I'll try to find these books in the library to preview them before purchasing more.

All of the "Snowmen" books are delightful - great illustrations, rhymes with meter that is actually correct (!), and some in the series even have hidden pictures to find. These are a big hit with my grandson and I highly recommend.

http://readpicturebooks.wordpress.comI find it rather difficult to find quality picture books related to winter or to Christmas, but I finally found one! Snowmen At Work is such a great story about a boy who builds a snowman and then wonders what kind of jobs they do. Each of the following pages explores these different jobs including a dentist, a pet store owner, a teacher, or even a magician! The rhyming, rhythmic text of the story is incredibly enchanting and flows very well. I was surprised at how well the words rhymed, how nothing interrupted the flow of the story, and how fun this book is to read. The text combined with fantastic illustrations is what really makes this book. The illustrations are brightly colored, cute, eye catching, and just plain brilliant! I just can't get over how everything is snow man related including the cute snow animals in the pet store. Not only are there tons of things to look at and discuss on each page, there are also wpid-new-doc-40_1.jpg.jpegsome hidden pictures including a rabbit, a cat, a t-rex, and a mouse that appear in every painting! This would be a lot of fun for older readers! Parents and children would have to work together to find these items on the pages because some are very difficult to find; I haven't even found them all. Anyway, these are some of the best paintings I have seen in a children's book!My son and I really enjoy this book and I am sure you will too! I highly recommend getting this for children 2 and a half and older as a fun winter time read! It will be enjoyed for many years!
