I don't often write book reviews, but I really enjoyed reading Woman of Clay.I loved getting to know Shana thru the trials she experienced. The theme of God's forgiveness is woven throughout the book. But I appreciated that the book also showcased that even though we are forgiven of our sin, there are still consequences. But when we allow God to help, He can take the broken pieces of our lives and create something stronger and more beautiful, to show forth His love and grace.I look forward to reading the next book, Woman of Mettle.
I was at first rather wary of reading a novel set in Bible times - not usually my kind of thing but I liked the girl on the cover! She reminded me of someone.. I found myself quickly drawn into the plot and to the true-to-life main character, a person who quickly starts to discover the truth about her own vulnerability and imperfections. I was fascinated to follow what happened to her after a particularly life-changing encounter. Ms Caddick has clearly done her research homework and I enjoyed her Biblical insights. Her explanation in the introduction about how women lived and moved in those days, I found very interesting especially the aspect of women being part of Jesus' 'entourage'. As I have also visited Israel and walked some of its roads, I found what she said about the country to be accurate and nicely descriptive. This is a very enjoyable book which will provoke thought and perhaps it is book to recommend to one's teenage daughter.
I highly recommend this wonderful book because it is very well written with many exciting twists and turns. It will make you laugh and weep as Linda weaves a story of love, betrayal, sorrow and finally....victory. I read it so fast that I will need to read it again to get the full impact. The author uses Scripture at the most appropriate times and brings all her characters to life in such a way as I have seldom seen in fiction. I am one who does not think that there is such a thing as "Christian fiction" but this one is an exception. It is believable and that is my test for these types of books.I can hardly wait to read her second book, "Woman of Mettle". It is the sequel to this one with Shushana continuing her journey as she grows in faith in her Messiah, Yeshua. I love happy endings too and Linda gives us the dearest and sweetest one as love wins and heartaches mend through faith in Jesus through faith in God's Word. Oh, the wonder of God's love through His only begotten Son!This book will grow your faith and leave you with a sweetness that will last and last. I just loved this book and hope to see more of Linda Caddwick in the coming years. She will prove to be one of the top fiction writers in this amazing new category that I have not wanted to accept until now. I now do because of her. Thank you Linda for this delightful book about the woman Jesus openly forgives of a crime worthy of death. Surely, it was not easy. Your talent is absolutely God blessed.
Interesting read, set in the time of Jesus's preaching, the author has painted a picture so well you can see the story play in your mind as if you were watching a movie. Along the way you meet people from the Bible like Ruth and Naomi but this centers on a young girl who has feelings and rebelliousness much as young girls today. This books takes us on her journey and provides some insight to what it might have been like during the time when Jesus was preaching. This book is unique, I have never read anything like it. It is very well written, not a preachy sort of religious fiction, nor totally a historical fiction. It's just a good story of a young woman's journey. I received a copy of this book for my honest review. This is one I am glad I did not miss!
I truly enjoyed this book. It was well written and the characters were beautifully developed. The work, though a work of fiction, was very biblically based in circumstance and explored the real life implications of sin and redemption. The author did an amazing job of walking the reader through the sin and redemption of a life which has been placed in the hands of the Lord and I love the ministry value of it. The salvation message was presented in such a way as to clearly show an unbeliever the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Highly recommended.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK When I was urged to read this book by my Sister, I hardly expected it would be a story I would find captivating, exciting, or even of interest to me, but boy was I wrong in my first judgement. I guess they don't say don't judge a book by its cover for nothing! With every chapter my admiration for Ms Caddick’s writing grew, and there was enough suspense and excitement to keep me wondering what would come next. As the days went by, I came to treasure the few minutes I had to read the tales and hardships of Shana, a character I never originally thought I could identify with, and the teachings of her Rabbi. It became my only source of revelation as, at the time, work and life had gotten in the way of my relationship with God. By the end of it I found myself identifying with the more human aspect of God - that of Jesus Christ - as if I had come to know Him more with every turn of the page. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to identify more with the man that was Christ and the amazing teachings and sacrifice He left behind for us
