This book provides a good overall look at a veterinarian's day. This book is full of pictures and Q&A style information. As a teacher, I especially like the time clocks that represent the veterinarian's day. Younger children 6-8 who are interested in animals would like reading this book with an adult, as the text would challenging for a beginning reader (reading level varies throughout the book from 4th grade through 6th grade). Though, this is not a thorough coverage of what a veterinarian does, it does include sources, both internet and books, for children who want more information. It also includes a short glossary and index.
If your child is interested in being a veterinarian, this is a whitewashed version of what they do. It's a nice introduction for young children. It doesn't talk about sick animals or putting animals down, etc., which is a big part of the job, too.
My daughter loves animals and wants to be a veterinarian when she wants to grow up, this book includes lots of pictures as well as simple (and yet educational) information about what a veterinarian does. Depending on how advanced your child is at reading/grasping basic concepts an older child might see the book as being a little boring. Would definitely recommend to a child in the 4-6 age range but much older than that the book might be a little too basic.
My daughter is six and loves reading about veterinarians. This book has interesting pictures and facts. I agree that it is appropriate for elementary aged kids. Nice size fonts and great for kids developing their independent reading at higher levels.
Purchased for my kiddo, who is aspiring to be a vet! She loved the step by step story about a day in the life of a vet. Pictures are great and it is a simple read and easy to understand for the kids. Would recommend this book to parents who are looking to peak your child's interest about being a vet. I purchased this product at full price.
I love these series. I am a preschool teacher and a mother of 2 boys under 3. Great pictures and just the right amount of detail. They always don't keep attention for the younger ones, so if you are a teacher planning to use these, I suggest some props to go along with it.
I considered this a great buy. My granddaughter, 7 years old wants to be a vet. I believe this book is above a 1st graders reading level. Her mother says she loves to read. She may read better than I think.
My grandson is eight but very advanced. he learned a lot and the pictures were excellent.I would recommend for any child's library
