Buongiorno! (Good day!) Welcome to the country of Italy. This book will introduce your child to twenty six facts and more about Italy via the ABC's. On the first page, before the alphabet begins, the reader is shown on a map where Italy is and a 'Fast Fact'. Did you know that nearly sixty million tourists visit Italy each year?On each page of the alphabet there is a picture, a paragraph providing details on the topic and a 'Fast Fact'. What I also love is the fact that the difficult alphabet words have the pronunciation beside them. For example: dolce (DOHL-chay)At the end of the book there is a page labelled "Italy in Brief" with information on the capital, population, language, education, major holidays, climate, highest point, natural resources, money etc. On the facing page there are eight words to learn: hi, good-bye, please, thank you, yes, no, one, two along with their pronunciations. There is also a glossary provided. An index is also provided on the last page.Although definitely not a comprehensive book on the country, your young child will get a glimpse into some of the history, culture and present day, hopefully whetting their appetite to do more research.
This was the perfect book for my 7 year old grandson. He is saving his money to go to the "boot country". This had information about landmarks, language and food all inclusive and in alphabetical order.
Unimaginative, trite; many definitions are meaningless. Not the best examples for the language of a country which is so colorful and expressive.
This book has a page for each letter of the English alphabet and info on a short Italian subject (Z- ziti).Pretty minimal book and info about Italy.
I purchased this book to accompany a baby shower gift for the niece. I wanted her to be able to introduce her child to the Italian culture. I'm sure she will make good use of this book. It was a definate hit!
Perfect for my daughters 2nd grade book report, has a few italian language lessons, makes it fun and interesting to learn about italy and its people. This series also has 17 other cultures.
