Jim Weiss is an extraordinary storyteller who brings to life the process of scientific inquiry and discovery. My six year old son was so entranced by these stories of Archimedes, Brahe, Kepler, and Galileo he asked if he could go back out to the car to listen to the tape again. Worth listening to again and again.

Master storyteller Jim Weiss is an incredible storyteller. The stories are so interesting for children. Many of his story CD's have been highly awarded, and this is one of them. This won a gold award from Parents Choice and was mentioned as one of the 25 best audio CD's in the past 25 years by Parents Choice. My family first learned of Weiss's CD's when we checked one out from the library. It was excellent. We then learned about this one and acquired it, and my older daughter has been listening to it a couple evenings a week while she reads. The story is excellent, and she listens to it over and over. The story brings out the imagination of a child and entertains in a good way - unlike some commercial childrens products.Excellent!

These stories were wonderful. We like a lot, in fact most, of the Jim Weiss CDs, but this one does stand out for my science-loving kids. The 6yo, 8yo and 11yo all enjoyed it and learned much about Archimedes especially. They all love to snicker and tell the funny about him running out from the bath without his toga when he found the solution to the king's problem. The telling makes Archimedes and history memorable and enjoyable to them, which is my goal.

This is a great collection of stories and I love the scientific theme. The stories frequently enter in to our day-to-day conversation around the house, and it's has a great way of explaining the lives of these great scientists who lived in difficult times but still managed amazing discoveries. Our girls (6-10 yrs) love this one.

I bought this CD for my children because of the great reviews the series received. This CD tells a terrific story not only of Galileo, but Archimedes, Ptolemy, Copernicus and others. I had never heard of Tycho Brahe, but his story was fascinating as well. My sons asked to hear the CD several times, and played it for a friend. They absolutely loved the story of Archimedes and the Golden Crown (a story of how Archimedes discovered fraud in the manufacture of a crown supposedly made of pure gold) which amazed and amused them. This entire series is phenomenal. I just wish they were longer than an hour.

Jim Weiss audiobooks are the best, I don't get tired of listening to them multiple times with my four year old, this one in particular goes a bit over her head at times but she just asks me what is happening when she gets lost, get them!

My 5.5 year old son has had this in his CD player for weeks, he loves to listen to it as he drops off to sleep! He's learning about early astronomers and being so entertained!I love great hall productions because I know all their material ia child appropriate and I don't need to pre listen to each CD.

I bought this because I thought my four year old, who is advanced for his age and obsessed with astronomy, would love it. Unfortunately, he is a bit young too enjoy it. But this product was not intended a four year old. This being said, my husband and I could not shut this cd off. This cd is highly engaging and information packed. I LOVE it!
