My son (2yrs.) enjoys looking at it and listening to me. You need to know Pinyin, the Chinese Phonetics, to pronounce the words correctly.
This is a nice idea but the obviously clip art pictures they choose for items are not instantly obvious to decipher. They show a whole carrot in one pic and sliced cucumber in another. Babies won't know what's what.
My Chinese daughter in law and American son were both pleased with this book for their new son. they want him to be fluent in both languages, and this was a nice start to allow both parents to view both languages.
This book uses simplified/shorthand Chinese characters and English pinying, not actual "traditional" Chinese characters and not actual Chinese phonetic symbols for sounding out the characters.(Sorry, I had to post here. Manufacturers should make these distinctions clear/upfront and not hard to figure out.)
This book is pretty book but it isn't the best bilingual book that we have. There are a ton of words which is great but many of them are too old for my two year old and she doesn't understand them in either language.
I first saw this book at the library and wanted a copy for my home. Upon first use, the pages all fell out of the new paperback copy I bought! Completely unacceptable and I will return.
