I borrowed this book for fall semester 2013 and it was in perfect condition and arrived in due time for the beginning of the semester. It was my first time borrowing a book online and I'm very satisfied with the experience. I would definitely do it again.
Over the years, Carole Rich's "Writing and Reporting News" has been the standard for my News Writing class. It has gone through several editions and updates, and with each succeeding update it stays relevant and well-presented. What has always impressed me was the text's way of being basic without talking down to students, while being insightful and complex without losing the student. This is a remarkable balancing act. I have had several students comment that they will keep this book to assist them with their general writing skills, especially when it comes to organizing ideas and paragraphs. That is how encompassing this book.
I bought this book as requirement for my Uni News Writing course and so far it's been helpful. I'm rating this three stars, however, because I was given the Instructor's Edition. From comparing it to others, it has the same information, but I was expecting the regular textbook.
Very helpful book, but wish it had a little AP style guide in the back. This book taught me so much and improved my writing.
From minute I opened the first page, my mind brainstormed information. The informative book has helped me throughout my journalism course. This is one book I won't give away.
Most text books I find boring and incredibly outdated, but this book was excellent. It made me actually enjoy the class a little bit more. I finished the class with an A.
The book came in a timely manner, I don't enjoy the layout but it serves its purpose as a great reference book. Also for a used book, its in perfect condition.
