My two year old grandson loves this book, and, as there is way more information in here than he is interested in now, I know it will hold his interest for a long time. Book is well written and pictures are good. The vehicles are presented in alphabetical order which makes his favorites easy to find. My only complaint, which others have also mentioned, is that each vehicle is cut to shape on the top. This probably sounded like a good idea, but it means that each page has to be lifted up to see it clearly. This is a minor complaint as lifting the page is easy to do. OH-it is also bound on a wire spine, and pages are thick enough that this should hold up a long time. I highly recommend this books for children who are truck mad!
But now we can name all different kinds of work vehicles!I count on reviews for my purchases, so I wanted to share how much my son and I enjoy this book. I bought it for my just-turned-3 son, and he loves it. The pictures are good quality stock photos. The top border is cut out along the truck, which is neat, but in some instances it causes the vehicle to merge with the one behind it, which caused me to double-take on at least one occasion. There is a lot of text (which honestly, I haven't read because my son's attention span isn't there yet). Even without reading the text, my son still loves this book and can name almost every one of the 42 different vehicles. There is a short glossary and photo gallery at the end. Vehicles are in alphabetical order, which makes it easy to find when your child wants to see a specific vehicle. However, alphabetizing separates vehicles that ought to go together. For instance, I think it makes sense for the street sweeper, recycling truck and garbage trucks to be grouped together. Still, not enough minor annoyances to reduce the 5-star rating. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this book!
My 3yr old was quick to point out that the page titled Excavator has a photo of a Backhoe, and vice-versa on the page titled Backhoe.The same two tractors were transposed in the glossary as well.Other than that error, the rest of the book is very informative for young readers
