Dennis Miller wrote and starred in one of the funniest shows I have ever seen in "Dennis Miller Live," which ran from 1994 to 2002 on HBO. From 1996 to 2001, four books and accompanying audiobooks were released featuring the "Rants" Miller performed; comedic soliloquies with wordplay, jokes, sarcasm and humorous allusions about the absurdities of politics, life, pop culture, relationships and just about everything imaginable. This was before Miller took a hard-right turn and the rants were often a hipster-ish liberalism and libertarian-ism; a distaste for Clinton and an even greater distaste for the Jerry Farwell and Sean Hannity-like figures of the world. This comedy album was Miller's last in the series of Rants and was not paralleled by a print version.Unfortunately, "Still Ranting After All These Years" was a noticeable step down from previous "Rants" albums. The quality is still good and better than most comedy recording but it is a let down from how hilarious Miller's program often was. He does humorously lament about the lasting impact of the Puritans and how the anti-pleasure dogma of those buckle-shoed killjoys still has a hold on our collective conscious or how some people "view God as a warm, loving father figure, like Bing Crosby in The Bells of St. Mary's while others view God as an angry, vengeful, frieghtening father figure, like Bing Crosby in real life.
