We first heard of this book when my daughter read/sang it during circle time at preschool. It is great for the 2-3 year old age group, and potentially kids older than that. It's wonderfully illustrated with bright and cheery colors and the words to the story can be sung as a catchy song to the tune of Skip to my Lou. I have to say that I wasn't expecting the singer on the CD to be British, but we mostly use the instrumental version on the CD and sing it ourselves. We also use egg shakers to keep rhythm -- something that her teachers did with the kids in school as they sang along. We've gotten a few Child's Play books from the doctor's office over the years, and I love most of them books because they really do keep my daughter's attention. This song is definitely something we sing just as frequently as our ABC's or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star ;)

This Classic Books With Holes has quickly become one of my grandson and granddaughters favorite books. My grandson, who is only 2 years old now can sing through the whole book by himself, and loves it. And my granddaughter who is 13 months old can't get enough of it. It is one of a library of board books we have for them many of which are Classic Books With Holes. I highly recommend this book for the little ones to enjoy you reading to them and for the encouragement they need to lead them in the direction of wanting to read themselves. An excellent book.

I bough this book on Kindle so that I could use it in my kindergarten class. The story is cute; however, I am very disappointed with the quality of the scans. They are very poor. The colors are all messed up and all the pictures are cut in half. It is not worth paying $7 for this book. I would recommend buying a hard copy instead.

Great book, but it says it comes with 2 CD's and it only came with one. CD that has 2 only 2 tracks on it. I love the book and the one CD we got, but I'd like to have received the other CD that was supposed to come with it.

At first, I thought this book was too young for my 3-year-old grand-daughter. However, the day after we read it she pulled it down from the shelf and began reciting what she had remembered from the day before. The words have a nice sound to them when read aloud.

I thought the book would be more interesting. Just a bunch of animal sounds. Cute for a very young toddler, but I bought it for my 4-year old niece and it was too simple.

I usually shy away from picture books that are actually songs, simply because I'm a terrible singer! I absolutely fell in love with Cows in The Kitchen, and it didn't take long to discover that my toddler story time groups loved it too, as I soon had kids making enthusiastic animal sounds right along with me as we read through each two page spread. It's impossible to sing about ducks in the dishes and sheep in the shower without smiling, and the rhyme gives lots of chances for audience participation, as everything gets plenty of repeats. The large format makes this a perfect choice for group sharing, and the characters are all big, bright, and colorful. Children exploring this book on the lap of a parent will be fascinated by the holes that give glimpses of the next pages. This is now by "go-to" story time book for animal sounds, and I would encourage any story time leader or teacher who deals with toddlers and young preschoolers to make it a part of your permanent collection.Sounds include: moo, baa, oink, quack, and shoo!
