I needed this book for a Forensic Accounting class that I'm taking. The book (and the class) are pretty straightforward. Not as interesting as I had hoped but clearly written and still more interesting than financial accounting!
It is possible to love a textbook. This is a great introduction to Fraud Examination techniques and provides all of the tools necessary to do further in-depth research via the internet or library. My instructor intentionally uses older textbooks to save students money, and while this version does have some dated material, I'd say it's 95% relevant to today. The chapters are relatively short and easy to digest, while the review material at the end of each provides good recall without being excessive. I like to take 2 hours to read a chapter, wait, and then spend another 2 hours doing the quizzes/short answer. So far it has served me well... I'm getting a perfect grade in the class.
The book itself is a goldmine of information. It's clearly written and easy to follow and I would recommend anyone interested in learning about or preventing fraud read it. The cases are current as are the discussion items. Some of the case studies are a bit unrealistic, but it's easy to see what the authors are getting at.I rented this book as I wasn't sure I would want or need to keep this after I complete this class. I do understand that rentals are often used books, but this one has been all written in, so I can't return it without being penalized. Fortunately for I will be asking to purchase this copy because it will become reference material.
Poorly written book. Very hard to follow along and retain the information. Obviously had to get this book for school, but didn't really pick anything up from the book at all. The type is a bit small too, makes for a lot of words on the page and hard to keep you engaged.

This text book is very good because it's easy to read and understand. The language used is very easy to understand and the materials and chapters arrangements made it very cohessively easy reading.
I was required to buy this book for school. For my class, it had the information I needed to complete the assignments. It was hard bound and the pages were printed well.For pleasure reading, this book was not for me.
