I am IT manager with limited audit experience. While working on SAP systems, I want to develop my career with combination of IT and finance.If you want to take CPA exam this book may lack depth. Nonetheless my motivation is to get gist of audit process without going back to college. It serves me well. I was able to read through the book in two weeks. Considering my limited knowledge of auditing and accounting, this book is written in PLAIN ENGLISH for dummies like IT managers
Great book for a great price. Was not understanding my Auditing class at college and this helped bring in into focus. Could have been a little better if it had followed one company through an audit, but was definitely worth it.
I am an accountant who is retired and sometimes I go on audits with a small CPA firm and I wanted to bone up on auditing practices. It may be too difficult for the general reader who does not have an accounting background, even though I found it helpful for me.
I purchased this book just for the basics of auditing. This book was probably created with a "dummy" in mind, well dumb to the subject if he or she has never studied it before. I am not planning to use this book for a thesis or anything but it does contain some basics on the subject of auditing. I recommend this for just basic information only. I can see a college instructor's face and reaction if this book is used for anything other than simply reading it.
This book is a real beginner's book for someone who aspires to learn what auditing is all about.Having said that, this book is far from becoming a supplement to preparing for CPA exam or for a college audit course.
I purchased this book to supplement my auditing textbook because it's extremely wordy. I read the chapters in this book before reading the chapters in my textbook and it helped tremendously. If you're an accounting student or just need an informative, yet simplified understanding of auditing principles, this is the book to purchase. As others alluded to, you won't become an expert, but you'll gain enough knowledge to go elsewhere and build on it. Honestly, I believe that was the author's intent. In my opinion, this is was of the better books from the dummies series. I wish my textbook was this coherent.
You will not become a expert. But this book gives you a basic idea of what an auditors does and what is expected of them. If you are interest in becoming an auditor, definitely look into it.
This book is well written and informative for new auditors and for those interested in the profession. It is also a great reference guide for those already in the business!
