This book is excellent and very readable. It is the textbook version of Corporate Fraud Handbook: Prevention and Detection by the same author which costs less. So unless you are using this in class or teach from it get the Corporate Fraud Handbook...it costs less. Either way you won't be sorry for having the book. It is worth it.
Easy to read. I purchased this for a class and will be continuing to use this in the future. The cases make the required reading that much more enjoyable because they are interesting and tie the material together nicely. 1-star deduction is for Kindle format. I hated it. While I like that the book is searchable on Kindle, I did not care for the print that could not be enlarged.
I needed this book for a required Forensic Accounting class at my college. I have to say, it was one of the more interesting textbooks I have ever read. This text incorporates a lot of case studies, which is interesting. The author is also extremely well known in his field, and his knowledge is very evident. I especially liked the way the text was organized, with an overview of the type of fraud, and then details about how the fraud is committed, and then a detail of what type of internal controls would have prevented or detected the fraud. Most chapters also have a list of computer tests you can run to detect fraud, which I imagine could be very helpful for the business owner/accountant. I think this text would be perfect for not only a college setting, but for anyone currently working in business that is worried about fraud in their organization.
Rented this book for a class, the shipping was easy to understand and it was simple to send it back on time. I actually really enjoyed reading this book, I found myself engaged and interested in the content. The case studies are so interesting!
Interesting and intriguing. This book was the required text of a fraud class I was taking, but I enjoyed reading it more that I thought I would. The text gave examples of fraud case studies, broke down the different types of fraud and explain steps on how to identify and prevent fraud. Great education and personal interest reading for people in business, law enforcement, or teaching.
It is a great book, easy understanding and contain various fruad example. The book focus on operation activities fruad, not very much for financial statement fraud.
This book is very well written and put together. Joseph T. Wells is one of the pioneers of Fraud Investigation. I strongly recommend you read this book!!
Every accounting major should be required to take a course in fraud examination. Fraud is out there and is not going away. It will only continue to grow. This book has great case stories.
