The Reaping is a great example of the best of what Big Finish produces.A solid plot combined with first rate performances and writing makes it an exception to a lot of my rules:Rule 1..The best Nicola Bryant is not as good alone as she is with Caroline Morris to play against.I think that the Peri/Erimem episodes with the 5th doctor bring out the best in both the character of Peri an the performance of Nicola this episode rises at least to that level and possibly above it.Rule 2..Colin Baker best episodes are with India Fisher.Since The Condemned (Doctor Who) the team of Fisher and Baker have been so popular that of the 6 of the 7 episodes that followed feature Charley to the exclusion of all others, but Baker and Bryant have more Chemistry in this episode than in any other they have appeared in. the pair really convey what the Doctor and Peri actually mean to each other. It is so well done it actually makes all the other 6th Doctor Peri episodes better.Rule 3..Cybermen episodes are usually weak.I've never cared for the Cybermen and have a basic prejudice against those episodes but the Cybermen are plotted well and are handled very well. You find yourself actually fearing them for a change.This episode is an odd in that it serves as part one of two as the next audio The Gathering (Doctor Who) is a prequeal for the doctor (5th doctor)and a squeal for the characters.Very much worth your time and money.
