I really could not connect to this and neither will my son. Revealing the snowflakes falling outside and a snowplow pushing snow around was good. But what babies ride sleds, throw snowballs, or drink cocoa? And prairie dogs? I understand that prairie dogs can pop up in winter since they go dormant for short periods but do not hibernate all winter, but if you are going to teach a BABY about what winter is and what to expect... why not teach its cold and you wear a jacket or hat... because prairie dogs are not essential to understanding what winter is. After this, not buying the series like I expected to...
We have these books for every season and they are wonderful for babies in the 9-24 months range (at least, that is when all 3 of my toddler-preschool age children seemed to enjoy and engage with them the most). It is a series of simple questions, answered by pulling flaps out or down to reveal the answer (and teach seasonal vocabulary words). Great little books with bright, sunny illustrations!
Another great book by Katz, these books are an absolute favorite of my 3 year old, even my 10 month old likes them (be careful of destructive babies, the flaps are easily pulled off). We read them to her now but she has recently started to "read" them herself just based on what the illustration depicts, when she is reading they are simple enough to be a great beginners book that she can read to her sister.
LOVE to read this to my two's toddler class! they look forward to reading time and really enjoy the lift and look books! I have a few other Karen Katz books and this one has become a fast favorite! I am going to continue to add to my collection!miss barbara
I love the Karen Katz books and this is no exception. Beautifully illustrated and the story is simple. I bought one for each of my grandchildren (under 1 year), and although they can't lift the flaps on the pages yet, the colors are spectacular and hold their attention. Nice book to grow with!
this book is good but my baby prefers the author's "where is baby's mama" much more. i am hoping he will like it more with time especially as we live in a wintery place.
My son loves everyone of Karen Katz's books. For the first year of his life we bought him one for every occasion! He loves the surprises under each flap and calls this one "cocoa." The best lift-the-flap books!
I searched and searched for books for my son. I especially wanted books from the same author so I may start a series. I have found these to be wonderful. I enjoy reading them and my son loves them and has since he was just a few months old.
