This book provides a clear summary of tax law as it affects both individuals and corporations. It is laid out in an easy-to-follow manner, cites relevant tax codes, and provides sample scenarios to explain concepts. In some places, it contains detail on tax law that currently has no effect. One star off for not providing much detail on the importance of the tax codes to decision-making, and how some of the tax codes are used/abused in real life. Much in the book is subject to change from year to year as new legislation is added.
Principles of taxation is always going to be a very dry subject, but this text is easy to understand and the chapters are short. I would recommend this text to anyone taking a course in tax law.
I've purchased my fair share of textbooks, and was surpirsed to see that this hardcover was printed in black/white/grayscale printing. All that colored ink must have gone to the rainbow band on the cover... Other than that, no complaints. Solid book.
Organized in a way that makes it easy to casually read to understand basic tax issues, however has the depth that would be required to be used as a text book.
The kindle e-textbooks are amazing. Making flash cards, highlighting, note taking, etc. I'll never buy a paper textbook again (unless I have to).
I really liked this tax book. I like tax in general so I'm not surprised but it did a good job of covering the policy side of it as well.
Use this one for every year tax return. Very detailed taxation principles listed. Good instruction for your tax return and your class.
