A man of reason and vigorous discourse, and a renowned professor of literature and philosophy, C.S. Lewis, always “Jack” to family and friends, never shied from intellectual debate, and through his written works encouraged others to wrestle with the difficult questions of faith. A master of visual illustration and allegory, Lewis wrote with the intuitive understanding that his readers wrestled with the same questions about the Christian story, about pain, suffering, and notions of Heaven and Hell, as he himself had wrestled. He also understood that others found reason and imagination to be incompatible aspects of an understanding of God and the universe.

Many years ago, shortly after my conversion, I was drawn to C. S. Lewis, but found his books difficult to understand. About two years ago, my interest peaked again on reading a book about his work in the time of the war. Again, I tried to read him, but I faced the same difficulty.I found the answer to my problem in “C.S. Lewis – A Life Inspired.”While I am relatively new to Wyatt North books, the ones I have read have all been excellent. This one is no different.C.S. Lewis came alive in this easy read. His life was outlined in an understandable way, especially his conversion and how it influenced his life and his writings. However, for me, the best part of this book was the way the author set out to explain his books. This book is a must for anyone like me who had difficulty understanding Lewis. One can now read the chapter on book to be read and have an outline of the reasons for his writing the book and an understanding of his message. This is must read.

Although I have known of C.S. Lewis and read a number of his books, I had never looked into his background and upbringing. His is a complicated path to finding the faith and it is interesting how it came to him all of a sudden. The realization had, obviously, been simmering a long time. I enjoyed the explanation and background given to his major literary works and it adds a better understanding to any reading of his publications. It was also quite interesting how his personal relationships with his brother and housekeeper influenced his literary career. Well worth the read, and it has caused me to look at other sources of biographical material for this interesting man.

This book is a brief and very basic introduction to the life and thought of C.S. Lewis, and is only for those who know nothing, or next to nothing, about C.S. Lewis. The content is taken primarily from Lewis' autobiography with quotes from several of his other works. The book is an overview and prospective readers should not expect depth. The book suffers from several problems. In many places the author has extremely long run-on sentences which combine several ideas in the one sentence, which sometimes one may need to do, but usually one shouldn't as it makes it difficult for the reader to follow the thought and the idea being expressed gets lost while reader works to parse the text and associate pronouns with antecedents which is harder in a longer sentence so one should not do this. At places the prose has odd word choices which cause the reader to stop and ponder whether the author is trying to get across a subtle point or simply made a poor word choice. The events in Lewis' life are not all presented in chronological order and this makes the book seem disjointed. Finally, as other reviewers have stated, the prose is choppy and the book reads like a report for a high school class. If you know nothing or next to nothing of C;S. Lewis' life and work, and you can get this ebook at no cost (it is free from time to time), then download it and read it. Otherwise, skip this one and read one of the many other (better) works by or about C.S. Lewis.

This book did an excellent job of showing how Lewis' early life, particularly his early Atheistic views, shaped his conversion to Christianity. I think few casual Lewis fans know about his journey from adamant Atheist to Christian apologist, and how it influenced his writing. Great read!

This is a wonderful view of the man who wrote so many wonderful books. One line that struck me as a reminder for all is when Lewis "gave in, admitted that God is God, and knelt to pray." Well done book.

I learned a lot from reading this book. I used to think that C.S. Lewis wrote only books for the young. But as I read this book I learned that he was a true christian writer. This book also gave me good insight on the views of Christianity. Everyone should read this book. Enjoyed it a lot.

Like most of the books published by Wyatt North Publishing, this packs a powerful punch in a concise package. The book was a quick and enjoyable read, yet offered plenty of facts on C.S. Lewis's life. Despite having read many of his works, I was not well acquainted with the man. It was fascinating to read about his conversion to Christianity, and his friendship with Tolkien. This book has made me want to re-read some of his works.

Very good read on the life of C. S. LEWIS. Gives the reader a quick birds eye view of an amazing man and his conversion to a life eternal.
