This is good parallel text. It Is easy to read; good for beginner to learn reading French stories. I gave it a 4-star because there is still room for improvement. For instance, the author could provide a list of vocabulary after each paragraph, so the reader could learn the new words in addition to the translated text, thereby extracting maximum benefit.
The stories are charming. The French is pitched well. The translations in English are little off, but it doesn't matter. It is the French that is important. I like that I can read short sections when I have a few minutes. It is useful to read and be exposed to word order and idioms.
Having just returned from a two week trip to Paris , this was most helpful in helping me renew some of those old brain connections for French. I hadn't really used it for decades and was so pleased with the ease and format in which this book helped You read a short paragraph and directly below it is the English translation . You can go at your own pace. Then the entire short story is presented again in French only. I wish I knew where to find more like this. For anyone who has studied French before, I highly recommend this is if you plan a trip to France. The French people love it when you attempt to communicate with them, even with the niceties of the day.
For anyone trying to learn to read and speak French this is a very good book to have in your tools for learning French. I found it very useful and also fun!!!
