"Sir Knight of the Splendid Way" is an enthralling novel which embodies themes of spiritual warfare and the Christian journey. Filled with beautiful imagery, Mr. Kule presents spiritual truths in a vivid and unforgettable portrait.Sir Constant is in the service of Sir Fortess. He has trained long and hard to become a knight in the service of the Great King. Now, he is ready to embark upon an arduous journey to find the Great King's city. Sir Constant receives a suit of armor and, after a harrowing nightly vigel in the "Chapel of Voices," he is ready to embark upon his quest. The new knight travels the "Splendid Way" and encounters many friends and foes who are not what they seem. Constant must traverse The Valley of Toil, avoid The City Dangerous, enter The Path of Tears, and journey across The Dark See in order to reach his destination. Many obstacles stand in his way, and tantalizing distractions beckon with alluring delights. Constant is maliciously pursued by a deviously deceptive and ruthless "Black Knight" who will stop at nothing to hinder his quest. Will Constant be victorious in his journey, or will his own foibles destroy him? Whom can he trust? This allegory was beautifully conveyed. My favorite aspect involved a man called Nameless, whose vigilance in guarding a well of pure water hurtles Constant into a perilous test. My favorite characters in the story were Sir Ardent, and Ian the Woodcarver. This novel is reminiscent of John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress." I felt that this book had more profound images than Bunyan's work. These images would resonate strongly with children and open gateways of discussion with the whole family.
