I just finished the most amazing book, and it was written by the ever so talented Chana Keefer! One Night With a Rock Star: Part Deux, surpassed all of my expectations! Usually sequals never equal up to the original, but that cannot be said in this circumstance! I thought it was exhilarating, hysterical, brilliant, stunning, and even had me on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion. I never wanted to come to a stopping point! When it came to an end, I must admit, I got a bit teary-eyed. Going through such adventures with Esther and Lester/Sky truly lift my spirits! Not only did it attract and spark my attention as a reader, but more importantly it sparked my attention as a daughter of Christ. All together, I think Chana made an awesome accomplishment!:) I'm SO glad i got to read such a work of art! God shines through her work! A standing ovation! I received an ARC for my honest opinion. -Brittany Price
I did not want this book to end. Chana Keefer hooked me in right away with the story line and characters she writes about. This book was written about the mid 80's when I was a teenager and I could relate to the adoration Esther had with Sky the rock star. Many of us who grew up in the 80's had posters on our walls of our favorite rock stars who were fantasies of young teen girls. Esther has the opportunity given to her to actually meet her rock star favorite, Sky, in person. gasp.....! Chana kept me on the edge of my seat during the entire book as Esther's college life took many turns, dives and uphill swings from the beginning to the end!!The best part of the book was that there was NO sexual talk... Chana was successful in writing a book that was full of surprises, intense moments, special moments of love without having one single sexual escapades that most other love stories tend to have. I LOVED that about this book. Other authors should take notice and try to follow Chana's refreshing writing style.Once you finish this book be sure to check out the sequel One Night with a Rock Star part deux....
I LOVED the first book, One Night with a Rock Star, was awaiting the sequel, and LOVE it just as much! What girl doesn’t fantasize about meeting and falling in love with her rock n’ roll idol? And, I admire a heroic author who can put forth Christian values and morals we don’t see nearly enough of today. I will read every book from this author, and I hope there are many more to come. Thank you, Ms. Keefer, for delivering yet another wonderful story that I’m happy to share with my family and friends.I received an ARC in return for my honest review.
One Night With A Rock Star part deux was well worth the two year wait. The story continues with that agonizing cliffhanger and it is a roller coaster ride filled with angst, joy, devastation, romance, humor, suspense, mystery, loss and love all woven together with faith and grace and forgiveness and family. Chana Keefer has also woven a fabulous background tapestry with vivid descriptions of the French countryside. And in the midst of it all are these wonderful characters, Esther and Sky, who are so well drawn and real, and I love it when it is so evident that the author is in love with these people, too. There are so many ups and downs and plot twists and turns and just plain evil working against them that kept me doubting but always hoping for that happily ever after right up to the very end. I honestly didn't know where the author was going to take Esther and Sky when I first began the story and there were lots of surprises along the way, which, to me, is the hallmark of good storytelling. Chana Keefer knows how to tell a story and tell it well. Faith is the victory! That is the message here. Is there a happily ever after for this Christian young woman and her Rock Star? Please read One Night With A Rock Star first. And then read One Night With A Rock Star part deux and find out for yourself.
I have been chomping at the bit for this sequel to come out and it absolutely did not disappoint. The characters are all written so in-depth with realistic struggles and joys. What a gift to write like this!I'm all about truth and authentic relationships with God and each other. It was a blessing to see the characters' experiences ring with truth and growth as God's hand became evident. As an entertainer myself, I can relate to Esther's visions of seeing people thru God's eyes instead of the show biz artificial personas. Then again, in many ways alllll the world is a stage with so many struggling to stay afloat without a close, saving relationship with the Lord. Thanks so much for sharing your gift of words, light and wisdom.
I liked the story and how all the loose ends were tied up. But I have to admit that the book moved really quickly and parts felt not well-fleshed out. Also, there was more darkness and sadness here, than love, as in the first book. While overall I was satisfied in the storyline, it still has weaknesses compared to book one.
I loved One Night With A Rock Star so much I re-read it, something I rarely do. I eagerly looked forward to the sequel, Part Deux. What struck me most about this book was the author’s willingness to take on evil, essentially freeing her hero of a demonic obsession. Not ordinary fare for a fairytale romance.Kudos to Chana Keefer for her sobering and gripping depiction of the subtle manifestation of evil in our lives. My only qualm was what amounted to a lay exorcism of sorts, something I’d have preferred to seen addressed by a trained priest exorcist.Part Deux reads more like a memoir than a romance in its storytelling. The upside is that the reader is further drawn into the lives of Esther and Sky, whose newlywed love is endearing. It’s a joy to witness (“offscreen”) the consummation and continuation of their married union and loving intimacy. It is real and sensual without become tawdry or in any way pornographic. The downside to this type of storytelling is a rambling plot, which at times did not seem cohesive. It may be that I’ve become a more critical reader since I read One Night With A Rock Star, but this book felt less structured, lacking in foreshadowing, and therefore less satisfying. Again, the draw here is the characters. There were some good subplots involving sex trafficking and the “adult” industry. The struggles of marriage, difficulties of superstardom, pregnancy loss, and incorporating faith into life with integrity and without compromise are all addressed. They are handled well, but I wondered at times if the author tried to tackle too much. All in all, an enjoyable continuation of Esther and Sky’s love story.
