Well the thing is. When I was about 5,6 years old. My brother had this book. I read it so many times it fell apart And you know older brothers. He got mad at me. Now im not talking I read it 6,7 times im talking 50,60 Maybe 70 times... It is a good book especially for kids. if you are thinking about getting it, Get it you wont regret it. Highly recomended!!! More so for 12 and under A little to young for teens get a older version for them.. It is still just as good but well you decide.
For those of you Christians out there, you know that walking with the Lord is no simple task...Well the Pilgrim's Progress is something you can definetly relate to. Although this is the pictorial version, don't be fooled because I don't know if children can really understand what's going on in the story because it speaks with metaphors and parables so similar to real life and the warnings the bible talk about, it's more of a story adults can appreciate even more.But this is what makes the Pilgrim's Progress SO good to read, because it talks about the REAL Christian life. Something only REAL Christians can understand. I'm not talking about Sunday Christians or Closet Christians. This book depicts our goal to eventually reach God amongst the struggles with the world.
I'm here buying another copy of this paperback book.Only wish it were published in a sturdy hardcover format, possibly with bigger pages, print, and colored illustrations.The black and white pictures (the kind of paper used in this and other novels feels much like the pages of a coloring book) were so tempting for my children to color in, so I let the older elementary children use colored pencil to add fun color.Perfect rendition of the classic for children. My boys were learning to read when I bought the first copy years ago, and they have read it COUNTLESS times on their own, leaving much wear and tear.
I am very happy with Pictorial Pilgrim's Progress. It captured the highlights of Bunyan's dream, which was exactly what I was looking for. In class at school, we are reading Little Pilgrim's Progress and the pictures are great for making a small booklet for the class to take home after. I would recommend it highly!
I purchased this book about 26 years ago when my son was little. I read it to him every night. He remembers it among all the other books I read to him, in spite of the fact that the pictures were in black and white and the language was not "modern" and simplified.The original Pilgrim's Progress is not/was not a fluffy, feel good message for the general public. It was written to encourage Christians in their walk with the Lord, through trying circumstances, subtle temptations, and powerful enemies. This edition, although formatted for children, in my humble opinion, faithfully replicates Bunyan's allegory and helps children to understand its message, underscored by its illustrations.Children are capable of understanding complex, perhaps discomfiting thoughts. This book is stimulating and I am so thankful to rediscover it...and to read it again to my grandchildren.
All of our kids have read this! They ALL loved it! We have the "regular" version but they can't quite understand it. This is a great kids edition, easy to read, yet still really GOOD! Pictures TOTALLY help them visualize with it. EXCELLENT, in our opinion. :)
Beautiful book for all ages! With pictures on every page, it helps to visulaize what is happening to Christian as he continues on his journey. Also purchased a different edition for a more indepth view of this timeless story.
