These are various profiles of Warren Buffett "The Oracle of Omaha" that appeared over the years in Forbes Magazine. Together, they paint a picture of how Buffett, with deceptive simplicity, became of the the world's wealthiest man, and more interestingly, his attitude to wealth and how he decided to disburse his wealth philanthropically and bring his children into the process. My only complaint about the book is that it is too short--the 117 pages went by so quickly, I had to re-read the book. These are portraits you don't see in the papers every day, and the ones about his children are especially interesting. This is an amazing insight into a uniquely American family and a uniquely American success story.
I think this book has made me look at philanthropy in a different light. We can make mistakes with giving away our money and probably will. This is a good book for any fledgling philanthropists out there.
I know it says right on the book cover "15 profiles from the pages of Forbes" but the way it was presented to me in my recommendations for Kindle had me thinking this book was going to be more about how Buffett works his magic. I know boo on me for not paying closer attention. I'm sure there happen to be quiet a few books written by Buffett or himself but this is not that book. It's a collections of articles about Buffett. Thumbs down on this one, but again that has more to do with me not reading thoroughly.
He has an interesting philosophy about philanthrophy. Book gives good insite into his background and thinking, also good stories of his family life and associates.
A Very insightful book about this very interesting individual, it leaves the reader feeling well!!!
Gives a different perspective on charity. But He had $59 billion. He can definitely afford it.
Thought it was really cool how you gained access to a multitude of peoples perspectives on how buffett lives his life from people who were close to him.
