I was pumped up to read this book which was referred by a good friend who is also in business. It kept me pumped up mostly through the book. The business side of it is what you need to hear in a down type of market. You need to hear about the "thinking outside the box" that occurs when the top 1% grow expenentially during a slow period as opposed to the other 99% that let fear envelope them and their businesses. There are a lot of good ideas on how to handle people, especially people that you are in close contact with day to day. I do agree with this structure around loyalty, it is my most treasured trait for my employees but I do not agree with his revenge policies. I guess doing business in downtown Manhattan for years can make you that way in order to get what you want. I am a Christian and therefore I handle my morals and values a little different in the course of business and also in the course of my marriage. His take on marriage is that you will probably get divorced and you should make sure you aren't put out in the pasture over it. I treat my marriage as business in that my wife and I have spiritual and personal goals to meet together (in business I have business and financial goals). He is also very stuck on himself. I enjoyed the "commentaries" by Larry and the insight on how he was able to get the Learning Annex up and running and the relentlessness at which he built the business. That part of it was worth buying the book. Overall a good read and something I could get a few good nuggets out of for my business.
I'm less than an hour into this series of audiobooks and had to take a break to hop onto .com and write a review for this audio cd - I am enjoying it so much. It's not only very inspiring, but it's also making me laugh out loud. My stepdaughter in the other room was probably wondering what I'm cracking up about while I was doing the dishes in the kitchen with my headphones on (audiobooks are great that way - you can work WHILE you listen). I love the Donald's straightforward, no-nonsense, cut to the chase outlook on life. He doesn't mince words when he says that if someone crosses you, you should get even and pay them back 10 times over. Or that, there are people out there who are going to try to screw you over and steal from you - they'll even try to steal your DOG! Haha! It's sad, but true. Most people wouldn't come right and say that but Donald Trump does!I found this CD at a time when I really needed it. I just finished a temp assignment that was very frustrating for me - although I enjoyed the work, I am getting pretty sick of working at the bottom of the totem pole, and am ready to start my own business. So this is just the kickstart I needed. Thanks Donald Trump. I will be sure to recommend this to all my friends.I have never done this, but I also want to give props to the narrator, Alan Sklar, who speaks in a way that I think Donald Trump probably would - he is very engaging and speaks with a lot of enthusiasm and energy, and it never gets boring. Sometimes I don't like when audiobooks are read by people other than the book's author, but I don't mind at all with this guy... I am thoroughly enjoying this CD, and the narrator does not disappoint!
The Donald speaks in plain, NO BS language....good insight into business, life and more. Donald has a big heard, gives back. IE....takes care of wounded warriors and others ( this was in 2007). Donald does NOT brag about this, nor speaks of it. Also he tells the truth that there are people out there in the biz world that want to take you down. It's true. He gives his perspective on how to handle these folks. Talks about his mistakes and how he learned from them. I found the book to be refreshing, honest and full of good ideas and not so common sense ideas.. I think you will enjoy it.
EXCELLENT book! Has a lot of funny and teachable stories in it, and I laughed a lot. It's one of my favorite books now. When it comes to Trump's advice on trusting no one, and getting even when you're bullied.....I couldn't agree more! This is my exact philosophy too....hit the S.O.B.'s back even harder!!!!! GO DON, GO!
Unlike many other audio books, Trump is awesome.........anything from him is Gold!! His stuff is easy to listen to, understandable to anyone, won't bore you...........it's never like your sitting through a college class (unlike many other audio books). In short, he just gives you, simple, easy understand advice relative to finance or plain how to conduct your life.......buy his products!!
I very much believe in Donald Trump as an extremely successful businessman and as President of the United States. If you learn from Donald Trump through this book you will be a better businessman. I also feel the book will help you understand the man Mr. Trump is, and how much of a great choice as a born leader Mr. Trump is to save the USA from the disastrous years under Obama and now avoid another terrible mistake Clinton would be. Do not believe the media that are largely servants to the liberal failed policies. Donald Trump as President and leader of the free world is where this man belongs and is by far the best. The USA is in terrible trouble after the Obama failed Presidency years; financial, social, economic, and policy.I have plans to add an Executive MBA to by background of 30+ years of experience working as a professional in NASA and supporting the US government as a contractor. I bought this book to listen to and learn from as I drove from the Washington DC area where I live worked much of my career down to New Orleans. I want to create my second corporation and Donald Trump with his methods has helped me.
