Wallace D. Wattles' timeless Masterpiece gets a disasterous "revision" by Ruth L Miller here. The frequent grammatical errors are a constant distraction. Didn't anyone proofread this rough draft? The language level is Dr.Seuz, at best. The word choice is vague, unidiomatic. The substandard language distracts the reader or obscures content. Sentences are marred frequently enough to annoy or frustrate the reader.Recommendation: Don't buy this supposed "New" Science of Getting Rich. Although this book does contain Wattles' original text at the end of Miller's "revision", you risk being too mind-numbed to absorb any of it by the time you wade through the so-called "updated" version that precedes it.Do yourself a favor to ensure a gratifying, powerful read. Just buy the original 1910 edition. It doesn't need any "revision." Trust me.
this is it - the single BEST audiobook / book on Self Help. The Science of Getting Rich has changed my entire life and everything I asked from the Formless Substance has come true. I listen to this audiobook twice a year just to keep me on track and reference it in my two books - Just Ask the Universe and The Universe-ity. I cannot speak more highly of Wallace Wattles. He awoke me...he will certainly do the same for you...
After listening to the original CD so many times that it's worn out, I decided to try the update version; I must say that although some of the more updated verbiage is nice, I felt too much from the original was cut and the narrator was a tad too robotic sounding, for me. I plan on ordering a new copy of the original, and passing on the copy of this version to someone else.
I love this concise book. It's message about focusing on the positive is excellent and I can benefit from hearing that message repeatedly. But holy smokes, don't make it so painful for me to listen. Ouch! The narration is monotone and has a scolding tone. This positive mental attitude book was delivered as a reprimand by the narrator.
Read this book and forget most other self-help books on the market, especially the ones written after Wattles wrote his (i.e. just about ALL the other self-help books, whether classics or not). If, after studying Wallace D. Wattles (perhaps including "The Wisdom of Wallace D. Wattles" spanning three books), you continue to believe your mind needs some more success food, then acquire "The Law of Attraction" by Esther and Jerry Hicks and Herbert Harris' "The Twelve Universal Laws of Success". But remember: IT has always been there, for thousands of years, and Wallace D. Wattles presents the best of summaries into humankind's perennial wisdom.
The content in and of itself is OK - nothing extraordinarily different from many of the programs of similar type and approach. The biggest area where the CD rates as 3 stars is in the narration. It is dull, lifeless and unemotionally interesting. While the content would likely rate 4 stars or more - the sheer boring listen downgrades the audiobook.
I have read countless books on the Law of Attraction both rooted in spirituality and science. While the principles and writing is sound, the reader on this audio book has a monotone voice that will make you lose interest on a fascinating topic. Get the book or the Kindle edition!
This is a great place to start. This no nonsense approach might be what you need...Quit whining and do something...It stresses how to FOCUS on fixing financial problems. I give it A+++ and I'm moving forward.
