Who was Sarah? Is there any logical explanation for her dazzling beauty that charmed and enticed kings when Sarah was at the age of seventy-five and again when she was ninety?Archaeologist Sir C. Leonard Woolley observed that “Amongst the shadowy characters of ancient history, Abraham stands out as a living personality—whom we can know, and with whom we can sympathize...and now, alongside this living personality, we find Sarah—perhaps the most remarkable, yet mysterious woman of all time!”ABRAHAM AND SARAH is an epic love story, an engrossing page-turner for the ages, a must read for every person of faith.ABOUT THE AUTHOR:Author J. This first came out in the early 80s so now I am delighted to see this new edition. The author expertly weaves the biblical text with history, culture, geography and everyday events to bring this ancient story to life. I like the inclusion of maps, a detail that helps anchor the narrative to historical fact. Well researched and engaging, I highly recommend this.

Dramatic and inspiring with fresh, rich insight into two of history's most famous characters. I especially love the way Jo Williams treats the character of Abraham's servant, Eliazar of Damasus. Though he is only mentioned twice in the Bible we can surmise, as Jo Williams so ably does, that this servant was eye witness to much of God's dealing with Abraham and Sarah. While this book takes us on a journey back 4000 years to a critical period of God's dealing with humankind it is also a powerful contemporary message for all those hungry for a greater knowledge of this God of the Bible. We can really identify with the lovers in this story. Jo Williams has written a movie script! I hope it gets done. She paints in every chapter another artist rendering of a movie set. As you read you are so interested in Abraham and Sarah you hardly realize that you are being treated to a vast knowledge of fashions, customs and social, political, economic and religious influences of the times. It made sections of the book of Genesis much more vivid for me.

This book starts in the mystical region of Sarah's birth and ends with Isaac's birth. Williams keeps the action moving forward and gives acceptable explanations for Abraham's decisions. Sarah is depicted as an intelligent woman, a teacher and community leader in her own right. If you are interested in biblical fiction and have an open mind, you will enjoy reading this book.

This is a must read for anyone interested in ancient Biblical history. Many are familiar with the story in Genesis of Abraham and Sarah, but the author has taken the known facts from the Bible as well as from extensive research and put arms and legs to them. The result is a compelling story of love and faith from some 4000 years ago. I highly recommend the book.Ken Briden, author of AFTER THE FALL OF THE WALL

The story of Abraham and Sarah has always been such an intriguing story. This author makes the story come to life. It is presented in such a way that the story jumps off of the page. They become "real" people, with real challenges and real victories. Great read.

This is a fictional account of how Abram became Abraham and Sarai became Sarah. It skillfully wove history, scripture and fiction together into a compelling story that begins before Abram and Sarai meet. The author includes many familiar Bible characters like Lot and his wife. It speaks of the beautiful Sarai who is just a few generations from Noah, and Abram who is quite intelligent and a righteous man. The couple go through good times and bad, both together and individually. Their unshakable belief in the God of Noah brings many blessings to them and those who know them and worship with them.

I nicely written story based on the Biblical tale of the love between Abraham and Sarah. Some misplaced words, some grammatical errors, but all in all, very readable. Sometimes the storyline gets stuck in minutia, and there are gaps in the timeline. These are minor quibbles. I keep thinking about who would be the actors in the movie...

I love historical books. I love reading the Bible. This book is written in such a way that helped me visualize real people living through that time, and feel their emotions good or bad. I know most of the story is biblically and historically correct and well researched. I just had some doubt about some of it. Not enough to give it less than 5 stars though because it was a good story and kept me wanting more. Pretty much read it in once sitting. Hard for me to put it down.
