From the older images of a sad,blue-eyed Jesus to the more recent, more violently graphic portrayals of hissuffering, Hollywood has trained us to see the savior of the world as justanother victim. To be sure, Jesus Christ endured terrible physical abuse and abarbaric death, but the night before it all happened, when he prayed in agony, alone in the garden, he was anticipating a much darker prospect, a terriblemoment that according to Luke's Gospel would cause the sun's light to fail. The Hush presents an alternative view, a much larger, morecomprehensive look at the familiar story, combining a unique blend ofspeculation with the biblical record. Passion and humor and friendship areexchanged between Jesus and his disciples, while all around them danger andconflict and unseen posturing mounts. The week wears away, the hours tick down, the trials commence, and the abuse escalates. Evil is unleashed like neverbefore. And then comes the moment when thesun refuses to shine; as the Lord of the universe is nailed to a tree andlifted from the earth, the Hush descends.

I read this book and was impressed not only by the author's grasp of certain Jewish traditions and idiosyncrasies, but also by his clever and heart wrenching retelling of one of the most well known stories in the whole world. There is something to be said for a person who can tell the same story you have always heard, but does so in a way that makes you feel like you have never heard it in your life. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, it has changed the way that I think about the week of the Passion of Christ.

FINALLY a writer with the mesmerizing ability to do justice to the story of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Painting rich cultural and historical details into the overall fabric of the passion of Jesus--as well as glimpses of what was happening simultaneously in the unseen spiritual realm-- Flowers adds a whole new dimension and intrique never encountered in previous telllings. Obviously pieces of the death and resurrection story which are fleshed out are speculative. However, the story never gets absurd or feels stretched to fit the known facts. I've know this story my entire life and still couldn't put the book down. Bravo!

I have been a Christian my whole life and I know the Passion Story, the last week of Jesus Christ's life here on earth. This book helped me take a more personal look into the time Jesus spent here on earth. I liked the way the author brought both "evil" forces and "good" forces into the story, both following Jesus during his final week. I couldn't put this book down and was humbled when I was done reading the story. Made me appreciate even more what Jesus did for me, for all of us, on the cross...

The Hush is extraordinary and brilliant in the way it brings to life all those involved in the week of the Passion of Christ. It is vivid reality of the visible and invisible. I read the book slowly, savoring each phrase, thought. It moved my heart and soul. At first, a friend loaned me a copy but I loved the book and bought my own to read again and to loan out. Excellent!! Don't miss this book!

This is one of those books that I couldn't put down. I know the story about the last days of out Lord Jesus Christ. This book lets you into the world of the Heavenly Hosts and satan's demons and what they could have been doing while our Lord suffered. Gives the reader a different look on the last days and pulls at your heart even more. Read it. You won't be dissapointed.

You will never know until you read this book what an impact it will make on your view of the last days of Jesus Christ's life on earth! The story is simple and bible based,an easy read. However, there's an important part that will take your breath away! I now understand the concept that Jesus died for our sins. I would read this gain and again.

The author has captured the last days of the life of Jesus with such clarity. If you could not understand fully this story before you must read this book. It is beautiful, heartbreaking and joyous all at the same time. You will find a new found love for the Creator of this world and will fall in love with Jesus fully! I would give it 10 stars.

This book is so Biblically accurate that it made me do extra Bible study by going to find the passages that were explored more in depth in the book. It is haunting and beautiful and makes one love Christ more! Beautifully written! The only thing I was disappointed in was the ending - I wished it would have gone on to describe the days when Christ returned to earth before His ascension, but otherwise it was probably the best Biblical novel I have ever read! Word to the wise though - if you don't know the Gospels well before you read this you will be lost, but it will make you get to know the Gospels in a far deeper and more meaningful way than before!
