What kid doesn't like digging in the dirt for hours? Mine certainly loves it, and as a homeschooling mom, I wanted to make digging educational. Having fun while learning is great and cements information in my child's head in a way that just plain book work can't. I purchased this book and immediately, my son wanted to read it together. He enjoyed the dot-to-dot and coloring pages in the back. This book worked like a springboard for the both of us and we made our own fossils using materials around the house and buried them in the dirt out back. We've also taken plastic dinosaurs and a plastic skeleton from the local dollar store and buried them in his sandbox so that he too can be a paleontoligist. He adores this book!PROS:Easy to understand.Great illustrations.A great book to launch many science projects!Dot-to-dot pages in the back.CONS: None that I can find at this time.
