I ordered BOTH the book as well as the CD. The quality of each is more than rich and satisfying.The book seems at times to be a bit on the more intermedite side. However, when combined with the tests and other learning materials provided on line along with a well-done CD with proper Russian, it can definitely take you to that lower advanced or further level that you may have been striving for. It is work just like with any language learning but in this package, the work seems to be easy, clearly defined (answers are in the back if you need that extra pat on the back or if you really need to go over that part again very carefully.
The book offers intermediate level Russian in an effective format. I recommend that you first complete 'Colloquial Russian - Complete Course' before tackling this book. I especially liked the vocabulary, word sets, and dialogues. Some of the grammar could have been more explanatory, but overall quite adequate. The authors also attempted to provide a glimpse of Russian life with the stories and dialogues which I found appealing.
This is a fun class reader, with interesting topics. We are using it in my 3rd year Russian class, and I like it better then standard text books.
